Nope, I’m just outside the local area

For accounting, would Long Beach, Fullerton, or San Diego be best for my major. Thanks!

got accepted but the site won’t let me activate my account even though i put all my info in correctly?? some of fiends have this problem too. does anyone have trouble activating their account??? and anyone know how to fix it??

is 3.78 your csu gpa?

From what I’ve heard, even if your status says accepted, you can’t activate MyCSULB until you get the official email of acceptance. Hope this helps ^^

So many students from her school are confused on why they got rejected, we are rating 10 high school in local area where we have over 90% acceptance rate to CSULB (average 90 students per year attend CSULB), counselors are trying to find out what happens. Seems like the rejected students has good stats. I don’t know if her major (pre-industrial design) and alternative major (pre-business administration) are considered impacted major. But this is our safety and local commute university where so many students attend, getting rejected from CSULB was hard and confused for our family.

Music
Audition was scheduled 2/24

What I find odd is that the Bob Cole Conservatory of Music, which is a SoCal magnet, has potentially talented musicians being eliminated before they can audition. The admissions office is prejudging applicants solely on the basis of stellar EIs, while giving preference to locals and other groups. How can a “conservatory” function when it is being undercut by its own admissions office? It cannot serve and develop the most gifted and skilled individuals if a large number of them are barred before ever having a chance to demonstrate their talent. The highest EI doesn’t guarantee you can sing a note!

So many qualified students got rejected :frowning:

@jjkmom: all majors at CSULB are impacted and I do know that CSULB states that local applicants not accepted into their choice major will be accepted as Undeclared so something does not right??
From CSULB website:::
Applicants who are considered ‘local’ based on their high school of graduation or military status who meet the CSULB minimum eligibility requirements but are not admissible to the major will be offered admission as an ‘undeclared’ student. Undeclared students will explore other appropriate majors through coursework and advising and must meet the major-specific criteria for the major prior to declaring a major by their junior year. Applicants should note that ‘undeclared’ is not a route to their initial intended major. Undeclared students work with university advisors to identify and succeed in alternate majors.

@BennyBop Weird that CSULB would make a decision before your audition. Did you email them about it? My audition was February 10 and the panel that judged me told me I was accepted to The Bob Cole Conservatory. I check my status and it’s still under review by the academic department and I’m lowkey scared I’d get rejected even though the music department accepted me. Hopefully that doesn’t happen.

@BennyBop my daughter is supposed to audition as well and hadn’t heard one way or the other about being accepted. In light of your post, I really hope she hears so we know if she’s wasting her time or not by going to the audition.

Do you guys know if the portal is updated at a certain time? Like at midnight? Or is it updated throughout the day?

@Gumbymom even school counselors are confused and trying to contact CSULB admission office. My DD and her friends weren’t offered for undeclared major for admission. But I don’t know if she will attend if she gets admitted either, she is really interested and hoping for UC admission.

@jjkmom: Best of luck to your daughter and hopefully everything will work out for all students involved.
