Fall 2018 Transfers

Can anyone chance me? Applying from a instate CC with a 4.0 GPA w/ 30 credits. Applying for finance. High school GPA was pretty trash and SAT 1350/1600. Most of my credits transferable except one business class. No one else posted their stats here so I’m not sure what to think

I took accelerated courses at my CC so all my final grades of 30 credits were received by W&M. Hopefully this gives me an advantage over other 2nd year applicants

honestly I doubt any one of us is qualified to chance eachother, after all, the mantra of W&M admissions officers (and possibly everywhere else) is “it’s a holistic process” lmao

I don’t think we should spend our time chancing each other. That will just increase stress.

I think the best way to know if they are coming out tonight is by checking the admit it blog.

guys what if we don’t find out till Saturday?? pls help us wm admissions team

I am guessing it’s not tonight at this point. :frowning:

Hi guys!

It’s late. I woke up in the middle of the night to check my email, and was disappointed to find no decision release yet.

HOWEVER,
I did wake up to an email from the Office of the Registrar. It was in regards to receiving domicile status in VA. Basically, I’m not a resident of Virginia, but I’m a veteran of the U.S. Army; and veterans can receive in-state tuition.

There was a good amount of information, but the conclusion of the email said “When you arrive and reside in Virginia please provide these documents so we can finalize the domicile review process”

!!! What do you guys think? Obviously, there was some sort of miscommunication between Admissions and the Registrar. OR, it could just be policy to forward all veteran’s applications to the Registrar. If the latter is the case, it’s just weird they would send me an email now, and not a months ago when I indicated I was a veteran.

Damn, I may have started to get my hopes up a bit now. Still expecting a rejection to protect my mental health, but this may be an early “Good News”, and a prelude to decision release tomorrow.

Just wanted to post this as I know I would want to read it if I was in your shoes. I’m going back to bed, haha.
Cheers

@XxStudentXx26 it is funny that you bring that up because two weeks ago I got the same email. Once they got the required documentation they told me I would be decisive for in-state tution come my arrival in the fall. My parents and I believed they may have accidentally hinted to me that I got in but I soon brushed that idea off! I wasn’t sure if I should have brought it up in this thread because I assumed maybe everyone got it

@XxStudentXx26 @medfulofmind you GUYS that sounds so good?? Like I know I don’t know anything for certain but I have a good feeling!!! I hope everything turns out well!! I’m rooting for you both!!

The only thing I’m thirsty for on Thirsty Thursday are WM transfer decisions >:(

Thank you @farshir!! It seemed to be a somewhat personalized email regarding veteran stuff, and with it being so close to decision release, I figured it was probably a good sign.

However, has anyone else besides myself and @medfulofmind gotten an email about domicile status? - whether you’re a VA resident or not

@XxStudentXx26 I’m not a vet, so I have not received anything like that, but last week I did receive an email from the financial aid office that told me my file was being processed and that I should ask the admissions office for an extension on my deposit deadline if the financial aid package wasn’t returned in time. The wording of the email stuck out to me, because it didn’t say “in the event of your acceptance…” It said, “you can ask,” as if everything was a done deal. I feel like it was a subtle hint, especially because it was not a mass email. It was in response to my inquiring if they had received the supplemental forms they needed from me. But yeah, fingers crossed. Shouldn’t be much longer now.

@XxStudentXx26 I received the email asking for me to fill out the domicile and fax it back to them on 3/29 and I am a Virginia resident. It might be a formality to see if you’re eligible for in-state tuition since usually schools give more acceptances to people in their state. Fingers crossed for good news!

Also wanted to point out that the first email I received from the financial aid office said “as we await word on your acceptance status,” meaning it was still undecided at that point. Just pointing out the wording of a non-individualized email. Of course, I could be reading too much into this. lol

Here we are on day 5… anyone think today? Or tomorrow?

Today would make sense as it would give their admissions the weekend off from phone calls. Let’s hope today’s the day!!

Fingers crossed and good luck everyone! If it is today, I’m gonna be at the bar by the time decisions are released, so I’ll be in a good position to either celebrate or drink my sorrows away. Haha.

Also, I browsed the Vanderbilt thread and noticed @LookAtMe was accepted!! A heartfelt congratulations from me to you! If accepted to W&M, which school do you fancy?

@XxStudentXx26 Lucky you. I’m not 21 yet so no bar for me lol I’ll have to drown my sorrows or celebrate with apple juice lol

Apple juice is freaking amazing though.
