3.8ish major GPA

Applied: UCD, UCSC, UCSD, UCB
Accepted: UCD, UCSC, UCSD, UCB

I can’t believe I got into all four!!

I have a question. How many Cal state residents apply this year? I am out of state international student. I do not know why I got rejected by UCLA and UCB since my GPA is pretty high(3.94). I am not complaining just want to know why.

Major: Communication Studies
GPA: 4.0
Applied: CSULB, UCSB, UCLA
Accepted: CSULB, UCSB, UCLA

UCLA IT IS! My dream school with my dream program! Good luck to future applicants and congrats to all those who got into awesome schools this year  !

Major: Global Studies (Cal) / Anthropology (UCLA)
Prereqs: Done for Both
IGETC: Done
GPA: 4.0
EC’s: Pretty fantastic though I haven’t done much in the last two years. All my EC’s were prior to that time
Essays: Decent. I wrote them somewhat last minute

Applied: Columbia (Go Ivy! Woo!), UCLA, CAL
Accepted: All

Still deciding where to go. Columbia Fin Aid was terrible so probably not there… I am leaning towards UCLA

@Kevin19970520 While I’m sure Cal and LA would’ve loved to take that international tuition and admit you, you’re at the bottom of the list when it comes to priority during the admissions process for the UCs. I believe when you add all california residents together, from both CCs and 4-years, we make up something like 90%+ of the admits. A lot of times with OOS and internationals, people will have perfect apps and they’ll still not get in. it’s just the way it is sometimes. I’m sure you got into some other great UCs tho.

@ridiarte Wow congrats on Columbia! What was the admissions process like? Did you have a good high school record?

Major: political science
GPA: 3.94
IGETC + AA-T done after this sem
Prereqs done after this sem
CSU —> CC transfer

Essays: tbh like 6/10

EC’s: no clubs
Some Volunteer hours
Currently work part time at Law Office

Accepted: CSULB UCSB UCI UCSD UCLA
Denied: UCB

@ericbadmon admissiosn process was fairly easy as I had connections with someone in the dept but my high school GPA was a 3.1. I took a few years off to travel, have a kid, etc and have accomplished a lot of random stuff which made my application REALLY strong. I wasn’t really surprised I got in TBH

Finally done with the admissions process!

Major: Economics

To all of the prospective transfers next year majoring in economics looking at this thread, feel free to DM me any questions!

@ridiarte Nice little humble brag there lol

Major: Cog. Sci.
GPA: 3.95 (90+ units AS in Psychology, Natural Sciences and Comp. Science)
TAP: UCD
Pre-requisites: Done
IGETC: Done by Spring 18’
ECs: Student parent, tutoring, disability advocacy, amateur game designer.
Personal Statements: Talked about starting my college path as an international, nontraditional student, my life experiences, why I have pursued degrees in Psychology & Comp. Science at CC and what are my future goals.
Applied: UCLA, UCB, UCD, CSU Monterrey, Sac. State. (Didn’t apply for any scholarship because I didn’t have enough time to ask for letters of recommendation, etc).
Rejected: None.
Attending: Probably UCB, but I would be equally happy to attend UCD. I just feel that I’ll probably have more undergraduate research opportunities at Berkeley.
Other: I was really worried because many of the requirements were not articulated at my CC according Assist.org. I honestly feel I got in thanks to the pure math classes that showcased me as a STEM major applicant.

Major: Interdisciplinary/History
GPA: 3.87
TAP: Nope
Pre-reqs: In progress
IGETC: Done by Spring '18
ECs: Collegiate Athlete, Director of Campus Student Activities, Part-time job as HR Intern, Marketing Internships with a start-up and an established fashion company
Applied: UCB, UCLA, UCSB, UCI, UCSD, UCD (Regents)
Rejected: None but waitlisted at UCLA
Attending: UC Berkeley

Extra Notes: I was attending a private college out of state until January of this year, when I decided to come home and attend my local community college for the spring semester. Since coming back I have been working at 3 internships along with taking 18 credits. I took a more nontraditional path but still managed to get into some amazing schools! Take your own path and be true to who you are!!
