FALL 2018 UCI Irvine Official Transfer Thread

Good Luck to everyone! If UCI is your dream school, I hope you get in as it is my ideal university too!

Has anyone noticed that there are just four UC transfer threads? will somebody create a UCSC thread or something? decisions will be released by March 17 for UCSC(TWO weeks from now).

@AdultSwimFan Also noticed that no transfer threads were made for Cal poly. Kinda weird considering it’s a pretty good school.

has anyone else realized that the portal is down??? UGH I JUST WANT TO KNOW WHAT IS GOING ON

We won’t know till April… freshman decisions are coming out right now not transfers

@pharmdream I know right !? are we, Californians, aiming only for the best of the best for now on? UCSC UCSB, cal polys…etc. are all ranked top 100 in the nation and as public schools in these few years! I just don’t understand us…

Heres cal poly

when the TAG comes out ?

I just got accepted to UCR as a regent scholar.

Still waiting on UCI to approve my TAG…

Hi
Can you guys please chance me?
CC transfer
Major: biochemistry -under biological sciences
GPA: 3.2 after TAU
IGETC: done
pre-reqs: finishing spring (calc 2)
TAG: yes to UCSB but probably revoked. I had around a 3.4 when I did TAG then I got C in ochem(fall) which dropped me to a 3.19. After winter I got it back up to a 3.21/23
My first choice in school is between UCD/UCSB
Applied: UCD UCR UCI UCSB
Accepted: UCR
Denied: none yet
College app: volunteered at a hospital for over a year, CC clubs, immigrant, first generation college student in the family

@Ak1097 I actually only applied to the one in Pomona but thanks either way!!

@biochembbs9 Wow, eerily similar situations! :open_mouth: I also got a C in Ochem, bringing my GPA to a 3.43 after TAU. When did you hear back from UCR if I may ask?

@pharmdream I heard from ucr march 5 around 4:30 pm when I checked! But don’t worry none of my friends have heard from ucr yet so I’m assuming it’s random order
You’ll hear soon! Check your portal! I haven’t gotten an email from them yet but it’s on my portal!
& ugh I’m so mad at myself for that C :frowning:

@biochembbs9 Thanks for the info  I’m mad at myself too, but hey, at least we got our hardest year as bio majors done. Btw, I saw you’re taking calc2, I don’t think that’s a prereq for Biosci at uci unless you didn’t take stats. I do think you have a fair shot though. Good luck!

@pharmdream I took stats winter that’s what got my gpa back up Bc I got an A! But I’m really worrried 3.2 is low :frowning:
And I hope our tags aren’t revoked :frowning:
I want at least sb or uci taking me :frowning: at sb I applied under pre-chem because they don’t take you under bio or biochem since it’s too impacted  I hope we get in

@biochembbs9 Hi!(:
I also applied to UCI with the same GPA as you but don’t let your GPA get you down! The good thing about UC’s is that they see you as a whole so not just GPA but your personal statements, involvement in the community etc. are all looked upon in the review and for transfers, finishing your lower division prerequisites also gives more chances.
I know some 4.0 GPA students who got denied from prestigious schools so GPA can play a factor but not for the whole. It also depends on the major as well. I’m not towards the Bio area so I can’t speak on behalf of that department but don’t lose hope! You worked hard from your struggles and they will see that (: also they understand biological science majors and the low GPA since it’s a really difficult major. I have a friend who transferred to UCSD with a 3.3 GPA in Biology major (:
I can’t lie that I’m not nervous because I am as well and have been concerned with my GPA but we got this! UCI is my #1 school choice as they have my specific major that I am focusing on so I am praying for good results! I really hope you get into your schools! I wish you all the best of luck!

@christinesoh thank you so much :frowning: I hope we all get in I’m so scared :frowning: I really hope they confused my other aspects. For my personal statements I just got personal and honest so they’d see my true personality-I didn’t really brag about myself. I really hope we beat the odds and get a chance to go!!! Let’s see how it goes

If I tagged and wasn’t eligible would they tell me or would I find out with admission decisions?

Hello
Can somebody chance me!!
CC transfer
Major: Business admin
Gpa: 3.67
Prerequisites: finishing last 2 in spring
Applied: UCLA, USC, Chapman, UCI, UCSD, UCSB, UCR
Accepted: Chapman
Denied: as of yet none
Other: I am certified in the honors program and also a member of phi theta kappa. I am a licensed real estate agent and work part time as a teller at chase bank. I volunteer at my church.

I got a C in fall 2016 in calculus 2 which really hit my gpa and it went from 3.76 to 3.67. Knowing how small uci business department is I’m really nervous as it is my top school (I want to stay home).

And if I were to get rejected, how effective would an appeal be saying that I took two prerequisite classes in spring which bumped my gpa over 3.7?

@yamjand You would just find out with your admission decision, but you could still be accepted even if you aren’t eligible for TAG so you may not necessarily find out.
