CSOM is a HIGHLY ranked business school relative to other colleges. Roughly a top 20 business school. CSOM is by far the most competitive college @ BC to get into. So much so that they hold a raffle to allow a handful of intra college transfers. That said, your stats are solid but borderline. Your EC are a little weak. I was amazed at the students who were turned away from CSOM who’s STATS were higher than yours. It’s tricky. Assuming you want to pursue Fiance/Business as a career, you might want to consider applying to Morrisey (school of arts and science) majoring in Econ and having a minor in finance from CSOM…CSOM has 5 majors non business school students can enroll in. One is finance.
My school does not rank, but I would estimate that I am atleast in the top 10-15% of students.
I am currently taking AP Calc!
I did not take subject tests.
Thank you!
@bbfan1927 Not sure whether you were simply making a joke, but “B school” is short for business school
@bentley2023 Your name suggests you’re hoping to attend Bentley. Make sure your app presents the type of person BC is looking for. Your composite SAT is lower than the class of 2022 average admitted (1448) but higher than the average enrolled (1392) for the school as a whole; it’s possible that CSOM students have higher stats, though admissions doesn’t reveal specifics by school.
Shorthand for “business school”, where many/most Unis house their business program. As the OP mentioned an interest in Finance, I assumed that she was applying to CSOM.
@bluebayou@bbfan1927 Not sure if anyone will see this but… I was deferred from Boston College EA. I am looking to get a reccomendation from my boss to add to my application. Is there anything else I should do in the meantime? And what do you think my chances RD are? I appreciate the input.
sorry to hear that Bentley. Search cc for old posts by scottj, who was a parent back in the day. He gave great advice on how to craft a ‘why bc?’ essay/letter. in other words, what do you bring to the table? Put it in an e-mail to your regional rep…
I truly believe you will get in RD. But if you want to leave no stone un-turned.
Find out who your regional admissions coordinator is and in mid January sent a certified letter of continued interest.. If BC is your #1 school than say it. 2. Update your admissions coordinator with any award, grades, achievements. 3. If you have a friend or relative who is an alumni- have them send a letter on your behalf. 4. If geographically expedient, visit the campus and drop in and introduce yourself. Hand delivering an material that you feel elevates you as a candidate
I truly believe you will get in RD.
Hi bbfan1927:
I know you mean well. And maybe the OP (bentley2023) will get admitted.

But no one is able to give that kind of input. Just look back through past years of this BC forum and you’ll see many applicants who were told the same thing, only to find out they did not get accepted.
