Fall 2019 Transfer Admission

@lolhalp you seem to have good stats, maybe you were rejected from USG because you hadn’t completed all the pre-reqs? I don’t think you’ll get rejected from UMD main campus, I have similar stats but less credits and I was told that I had good prospects.

@MaplePecanFrap I don’t think that UMD has a portal because when I applied as a Senior, I got my decision via Coalition.

two more weeks until we find out, hopefully lol

@lolhalp Hoping for good news! I think last year’s transfers got their decisions on the 24th but I hope ours come a little bit earlier

Hi y’all! I’m an OOS student (from DC specifically, which might help because of the close location). I applied priority and am currently at a college in North Carolina.
My stats:
HS GPA: 2.84
SAT: 1230
College GPA: 3.62

I visited the campus recently and have emailed them about my transcripts getting there on time. I also visited campus during my spring break and loved it. I’m mainly very anxious about my courses, everyone says you need to take pre-calc but I’m taking college algebra right now. Would that matter though since I’m applying as a history major and wouldn’t need such a high-level math?

I’m also worried about my HS GPA. I had an upward trend and all but it’s still not the best.

@blvcktea How many credits have you completed? I think your gpa is strong and they can probably look past your HS gpa since you’ve shown great improvement. If you applied by priority, they’re lenient about the math requirements from what I’ve heard. I’m kind of in the same boat because I have pre-calc in progress but not completed.

In my school I placed out of precalc. I took calc 1 though. Do you think this is a big deal?

@Marylandpride I think you’re in pretty good shape and more than likely will get credit for Calc I.

I’ve only completed 16 credits which is what scares me. But also my old high school is known in the DC Area for being rigorous so maybe they’ll cut me some slack?

i had a meeting today with a umd advisor @ mc who said he wouldn’t be surprised at all to see them come out this friday!

I hope that’s the truth, I’ve only gotten into my OOS safety so it would be nice to see an acceptance from UMD. If not, then it’s in state for me.

@ColleenC18 ahhh that’s crazy.

Hi, I’m currently a freshman student at a private university on Long Island, NY. I’m looking to transfer similar to what the person who started this discussion said. Not a right fit for my major, too small, people are cliquey (yes, even juniors and senior who should be mature). Anyways, I applied to UMD on 2/24, so a few days before the March 1st deadline. I have an 1130 SAT Score, 3.3 HS GPA, 3.75 first semester GPA, and will have 28 credits by the end of this spring semester. I submitted my HS transcript and SAT scores of course. I came on here to see if anyone got their decision yet, since they should be out by late April. I guess today would be considered mid-April? Either way I’m super eager to find out. If it helps, I got into UMass Amherst with the above mentioned “stats”.

i was wondering the same thing. I’m so paranoid I’m checking the coalition app but there’s nothing on there and no sign of there being any way to check a decision on there.

Also in the same boat, I’ve talked to the school and they confirmed within the next two weeks we should hear but that definitely hasn’t stopped from me compulsively checking my emails and this forum to see if decisions came out.

the counselor i met with said they almost always come out on a friday between 3-6 pm and that we should bet on this friday or next most definitely!!

Haha would that counselor happen to be Tyler McClenithan?

I have a 3.83 GPA from community college and have UMD English 101 and math completed as well as over 30 credits. I think I look fine but what do you guys think?

hahaha yes. what do u think of him?

He is alright I’d say he is pretty satisfactory and gets the job done. Could definitely be more approachable though
