Fall 2019 Transfer Admission

@jc1231 you’re pretty much in. you have nothing to worry about

Hey all! I’m currently a freshman at Sacred Heart University trying to apply to UMD for Fall 2019. I had a first semester GPA of 3.557, and I have 35 credits already earned. My high school GPA was a 3.75, SAT of 1190, and ACT of 26. I did a lot of community service (over 1000 hours), and have many extracurricular as well. Wishing the rest of everyone luck, I feel the anxiety y’all have been feeling. Hope to hear tomorrow!!!

I don’t think we will hear decisions tomorrow, mostly because of Easter and plus isn’t this technically still “mid April?” I really wish that UMD would give us a firm date. Plus, I believe that last year’s transfer decisions came out on the 24th. Which overall kind of sucks because most commitment deadlines are May 1.

Also, I would really like some feedback on my stats.

  • CC GPA: 3.4
  • HS GPA: UW 3.23 | W 3.8
  • SAT: 1190
  • Credits Completed: 18 | In Progress: 14, but I’m taking 6-12 credits over the summer in between transferring
  • ENGL/MATH: ENGL 102 completed, Precalc in progress this semester
  • Deadline: I was in by the priority deadline
  • AP Credit: 20+ credits transferred
  • MTAP?: yes
  • Essay?: I believe mine was decent, I talked about my passion for my field of study
  • Recommendations: I submitted four and they were all stellar

Thanks!

hey guys i am looking at the UMD Transfer Fall 2015 page right now and it seems like they got their decisions on 4/14 so i am pretty sure that it will come out tomorrow. Also, literally next Friday is way too late for them to be releasing decisions in my opinion lol. But I am pretty sure it will come out tomorrow. Good luck everyone!

Chance me!

@hsumdreject I think you have a great shot, almost guaranteed. Did you submit recommendations and other documents?

@jc1231 If they do come out today do you think they’ll come out in the afternoon? Will we get an email notifying us?

Today might be the day!!! I don’t want to get my hopes too up

@lycoris I think you have a great shot at getting in, definitely should be expecting a favorable decision  I think MyCoalition will send you an email when there’s a new decision letter for you.

We will get an email saying to check our coalition application. Also if you follow ApplyMaryland on Twitter they tweet it out when they release the decisions. I am following them on twitter

And yeah I think they will come out this afternoon at like 4:45

I’m really hoping they announce it today. The website says decisions come out “by late April” by meaning late April is the latest that they will send out decisions. But in previous years it’s been from 4/14 to 4/26 so who knows

I have a feeling it’s next week either on Tuesday or Wednesday but ugh I hope they release it today

I’m so anxious about getting in, Maryland is my first choice and I’d be closer to home then I am now.

I am extremely nervous because I have a very poor GPA at my current college but I want to change my major to microbiology and I got an A in the microbiology course at my school. My college also has a partnership with UMD that I am hoping might help. I also wrote my essay on my kind of “found passion” for microbiology and how general biological science studies (which is my current major) isn’t for me.
Does anyone think that even though my GPA is 2.7 that there is a possibility they will see my A in microbiology and my potential to succeed in the major?

It is a bit possible! Especially since most schools understand that the sciences are hard majors in general.

@Marylandpride they’d definitely want somebody that has gotten the math requirements and English requirement out of the way. I wouldn’t be too worried, if anything, you’d probably get into the school but not your major maybe

do you guys think they’ll go easier on me about only have the english credit and the math in progress since i am in my first year?

@ColleenC18 I’ve heard that as long as you applied by priority they usually ignore it, especially if you have it in progress.

also, I was told they almost always come out on a Friday after the admissions office closes just because they don’t want to have to deal with the millions of phone calls right after they come out. I’m not sure if its how they will do it this time but it would make sense to me. For some reason I really feel like they are coming out today.
