Hey folks! I’m a freshman at UMD currently and I’m really hoping to transfer to Tulane!
I applied to Tulane in HS but my counselor submitted my transcripts too late for the EA deadline, so I had to do RD and ended up getting waitlisted.
I had a weighted 3.7 in HS with two years of AP calc and AP English, and a 1440/1600 SAT. I also did 3 years of volunteer math/science tutoring for inner city kids in bmore (my hometown) where i was also very politically and socially active (i was actually arrested at a protest when i was 16). In addition, i did two years of research at JHU and my lab PI agreed to write me a rec letter w my application. We were really close, i think she knows me pretty well.
My college GPA for this semester is around a 3.1-3-2, i had a bit of a rough start.
Do I have an ok shot? i am planning on visit some point within the next couple months.
Thanks guys!!
I think your GPA is a little low right now, but don’t count yourself out because you still have another semester. The longer you are out of high school, the less high school grades and achievements mask college performance. That said, you’re doing a good job for a freshman, and I only suggest that you work super hard next semester to boost your stats and get involved on UMD’s campus, if you can.
I suggest attending the campus preview event for transfers on the date of Crawfest, which is in April!
My teen just got accepted today as a transfer to Tulane for Fall 2019!
@spiritualgift that’s so awesome!!! I just got in a couple weeks ago I really couldn’t be happier
did u get your acceptance by mail or an email notification?
