Hi!
I’m a first year (technically first sem but we will get into that later) student at Temple U in Philly. I am applying to gwu and American but I am mainly focused on gw as I want a more urban experience. I was rejected by gw and American on my first round but my gpa is significantly higher in college. I also have a work study in the field I intend to work in which IMO will be a good booster to my application. I wanted to know if there are any tips to bolstering my transfer application and if the admission rate has changed since the pandemic . I wanted to know peoples experiences at gwu and their transfer experiences in general .
Thank you!
How many units do u have?
At the end of this semester I’ll have 12 and I’m going to take some more in the summer
I’m applying as a transfer. I applied in January but my application hasn’t updated since GW’s applications for transfer students just opened April 1st
hey all. im also applying to transfer. my portal just opened yesterday
Heyy! Was your portal locked the whole time? My portal has been stuck will my freshman status fiancé I applied and I can’t see a status at all.
Yeah it was locked til a few days ago! I can see my freshman app and my transfer app now
Oh okay thank you!
Hey! I applied to transfer for this fall as well! I’m wondering the same thing about admission rate and COVID because if I don’t get in I think I’m going to be super upset because I really want to go.
Hey! I also applied as a transfer student and I feel that our chances might be high this year for transfers. I think its because there is a huge decline of international students applying so they need their spots to be filled in. The majority of gw students I feel are international students but with the decline, not a lot of students have applied internationally because of covid. I mean I hope that is the case because gw has been my top school for such a long time. I got rejected my first time but I couldn’t let it go… I truly love the school but we hope for the best. It is overall easier to get accepted as a transfer student than a first year student in general but you never know with admissions this year… everything is shifting and changing. but anyways im glad that this thread exists and there’s people who are on the same boat!
Yea that’s the same thing I was thinking. It’s a good year to apply as a U.S student. I also hope the financial aid is good. When do decisions come out for us?
On the gw website it says decisions should be out by June-July. which is really really far because by than you’d have to commit to another university before its too late. But from one of the fall 2020 transfer threads I read back, some say they got their decisions in august… but i think that was due to covid. I hope its not like that with us with there not being a lot of applications but we’ll see.
Wow I wish it was early. Some people do commit by that time. We’re gonna be waiting a while.
Am I screwed if my College Report hasn’t reached GW yet? I submitted everything else on time. Trying to get the registrar’s office to do anything at my university is like pulling teeth, and after being told multiple times over the past month that they have all the information they need to complete my form, they then send me an email days later telling me that they still need one more piece of information, or a new release form, or they don’t remember who to send it to even though I EXPLICITLY sent them the GW email and made it utterly clear. I have FINALLY given them everything they need (hopefully), but I don’t think they’ll send the form till Monday since they don’t work weekends. I called GW a week ago and they said it could be a few days late…but it’s about to be almost 2 weeks late.
I don’t think you’re screwed, you’re not the first person to experience this and you wont be the last. I would just contact GW a little after they receive the report and explain why it was late. Don’t be blameful, be humble and apologetic, even if it’s your college’s fault. Just be vague and maybe say there was a mishap with the process. I’m certain they haven’t thrown your whole app away.
Definitely not screwed. The report is to confirm you’re in good standing at your current school. You should email GW and update them on the status of submission and to be on the lookout. GW doesn’t release decisions until June so there’s time.
hey guys! I had a question to ask, do decisions come out based on rolling admissions? I read somewhere that, that was the case. They said June-July so they might be releasing them by the time they’ve read them and made a decision? anyways if anyone knows, let me know!
also curious about this! I read this somewhere as well but on the common app it does not say rolling so I was confused about it.
That is true. I assumed because a lot of people from last year said that some got their acceptance in June, some other in July and others all way in August. But that could’ve just been because of COVID19. But I do hope they come out early or in June this year so we don’t lose our spots and commit somewhere else for school!
did anyone hear back yet?
