Hi. My daughter has JMU as her top choice right now. Of course, school spirit and big events are a big draw to JMU. Has anyone heard about a plan for next Fall? will the school provide vaccines to those interested? Will there be football games? And has anyone heard of a current freshman that actually likes college at JMU right now? I didn’t think we’d have to consider gap years for 2021,but I’m a bit worried about what things may still look like in the Fall and whether we should consider a gap year.
I haven’t heard anything about next year but I have friend’s with freshman there and they’re happy. Definitely not the tradition experience, but they made the best of it. I’m hoping they require a vaccine to live on campus, but I don’t know if we’ll be there by Fall 2021. Definitely something to ask at any admitted student events.
I’m not sure about Fall 2021. I hope things improve by then. My son will be transferring there this fall. They had a snowstorm the other day. It was nice to see the students play in the snow on the live quad cam. They have been through so much.
I hope they require the vaccine too. I know my son will be vaccinated before classes begin.
Any thoughts on this school for an OOS student from the northeast? My S22 is considering putting it on his list but is somewhat afraid lots of kids will already know each other from HS. What is the social life like there? Is Greek life big? Are students friendly? Sorry to hijack the thread.
Tons of NJ kids at JMU. I know a lot of kids who are there or went there. Fro my what I’ve heard, and from our tour guide in November, Greek life isn’t required. Some do, many don’t. Most of the kids I know personally haven’t pledged. Because of the large NJ/NY contingent, it doesn’t have an overly Southern feel. Honestly, I don’t know anyone who went there and didn’t love it.
