I applied for Fall admission to Mount Holyoke and was accepted for Spring admission (I would start in January 2014). What does this mean/what should I do about it?

I don’t mean to sound flippant, but it means exactly what it sounds like: although you were seeking admission for next fall, they’re offering to let you enroll, but not until the spring semester. Many colleges do this, particularly when they often have a lot of students study abroad for the spring term and they expect to have more room in the dorms.

If you decide to accept that offer, you’ll have to decide what to do with about four months this fall. You could earn some money. You could travel. Probably, the one thing Mt. Holyoke would not let you do is go to college and earn credits to transfer in, but you’d need to check the terms of Holyoke’s offer to make sure about that.

What should you do? Well, you should compare Mt. Holyoke’s offer to any other offers of admission (plus any need-based or merit aid) that you get this spring and then decide–probably by talking it over with your family–whether you want to accept Holyoke’s offer or decline it. I’m afraid nobody on the Internet can tell you what you want to do.

They do allow spring admits to attend another school in the fall and transfer credits in.

also, 4 & 5 ap test scores can be used for credit for spring admits.
my d received a semester of credits for her ap scores. worth considering.
