About how many students stay around for Fall Break? Is much open/ is there stuff to do?

I would like to know soon. I might go home since I live nearby, but I don’t know other people that are…

I personally don’t know any who stay unless its for sports. People I know that live far away (like CA) took the weekend to go to NYC with friends. I do know that libraries are open but have reduced hours…

AFAIK, most people leave if they can, or go somewhere. I’m trying to find a way to get to Montreal, but that doesn’t look very promising over that weekend, so I may go to NYC and meet up with some of my friends from West Point and NYU.

But who knows, I’m afraid of looking at hotel prices in NYC. Very afraid.

I stayed last year, it was fun. (I’m from FL so it’s a pain to buy tickets for a few days)

The food places aren’t open so we went to Target and bought groceries and made food.

This year I plan on going to Jersey or NYC with friends.

If you want to go to NYC, try finding friends at Columbia, NYU, Cooper Union, Fordham, etc. and ask if you can stay with them.

NYC is a good spot to be

I’m either staying, going to NYC, going to Montreal, or going somewhere else, depends what opportunities come up later.

I stayed on campus last year, and it was pretty boring. Maybe because I studied the whole time. lol.

Hopefully…this year, I’ll be in California.<3 It’ll be a short trip with all the traveling, but it’ll be worth it. :)

I’m going home to NYC! My friend at Haverford has the same break, so we’ll be able to meet up I heard that there’s really nothing much to do on campus on Fall Break, so I figured it would be a good time to see family/friends and exchange my summer clothes for warmer ones.

Anyone who is interested in coming to NYC to visit should consider staying at Jersey City. It is only a Path ride away, very cheap/easy to get in and out of NYC. There are nice hotels (Westin) for around $200 for a room with 2 queen size beds. You could have 4 people stay in a room if you are tight on budget. Eating out in NYC is not any more expensive than Ithaca. October in NYC is beautiful. There is Central Park, museums, SoHo, Village…

Are all the dining halls really closed?

When do kids generally leave? Does everyone have class on Friday?

I’m planning to leave on Friday after my last class (which ends at 2:15). If you don’t have classes on Friday or Saturday, you could probably leave Thursday night if you want to. It sucks if you have lab on Saturday or something, though.

there are always people that stay- obviously many international students (some of them also just kick it in NYC or somewhere else for a few days), but you will see a huuuge reduction in the ithaca population during that time. tons of kids live in NY so they are a short drive away. i had to stay to do labwork sophomore year, and it was quite a borefest. no parties and overall desolation.

people have class on friday- a lot of people skip them to get a jump on break. as per countryangel’s comment- i’m pretty sure any class on saturday (never heard of a saturday lab… but i could be wrong) will not take place.

I thought that break officially begins at 1:10 on Saturday, so I assumed that Saturday morning classes are still on…but I could be wrong.

thats probably because of the cornell v harvard football game :D

I think it’s really lame that they schedule a home game against Harvard over a weekend when a lot of students are going home…I guess they couldn’t help it, but still.

I’m going to NYC and staying with friends at Parsons, NYU, Columbia, and Fordham (I think one/night) so I’m excited :D

Yeah it’s ridiculous that the game is during fall break. No one will be there lol.
