This has probably been covered, but I cannot find a solid answer. Does anybody know when fall application decisions typically arrive? This question is not geared toward any school in specific; this is more of a generalized question. I’ve received two so far, out of about 12. Last but not least, do some colleges offer decisions earlier than they say they will? Binghamton for example needs a deposit by May 1, but Notre Dame for example will not provide a decision until June/July; so they say. I don’t want to be forced to make a rush decision out of desperation. If I am not notified of all my choices around the same time, I may be forced to act without yet knowing what my other options may well have been. Any advice/information is appreciated.
You will be notified soon from Notre Dame. The deadline for payment is May 1st. Most decisions from RD fall come between mid March and April. It depends most of the schools. @pager27
Colleges would severely harm themselves if they don’t get out decisions way before May 1st. As you’ve seen, this is the standard reply deadline for most universities. A college that doesn’t inform its applicants weeks before that date should rightfully expect MANY people to no longer consider them. It would be utter folly on that college’s part. Frankly, have nothing to do with such a poorly run college.
The only time you would be waiting for a decision from ND (or any college) past May 1 is if you were on the Waiting List. All colleges notify you by April and you have until May 1 to decide.
Ok, that is great news! Thank you all for the information.
Okay, so I just spoke to Cornell and Colgate admissions. Colgate said they begin mailing out April 20, and Cornell said we will know (Mid-April). So in these cases, specifically for Colgate, I will be in a tight squeeze. Binghamton needs a deposit by May first. If Colgate mails by April 20, I probably won’t receive their decision until 3 or 3 days before I have to decide. This is just crazy!
*3 or (4) days
Does anyone here know if it is even worth accepting a spot on the waiting list? I’ve been waitlisted by a university that is deemed very selective, so I’m just wondering if it is even doing so, considering the extremely low probability… Thanks.
@collegeplease123 Maybe start your own thread vs. threadjacking?
@T26E4 Relax. And in your reply, you could’ve answered my question.
