I got Degraff, is it good?

Degraff is one of the newer dorms and in my opinion it is “good.”

yay I was reassigned from Dorman to DeGraff!

NICE! Glad it worked out for you.

I still need a room =[ cries

Still haven’t gotten a room Tina? Whats the prob?

waiting list =[

I got reassigned from Salley to Broward

Sounds like there will be rooms available to those on the wait list once they get reassignments done. Good Luck!

how long do reassignments usually take???

i was wait listed and just got assigned a room in deviney with three other roommates. i thought you could only get a quad with a suite style dorm? is deviney any good?

Deviney has community baths and a very good location. It is one of the older un-renovated dorms and isn’t considered one of the best. However, both of my kids (with good priority numbers) requested Deviney this semester because of the location, because no meal plan is required, and because of the price – it is about $500 less per semester than nearby dorms. It is getting new carpet and new paint this summer, so that should definitely help with the shabbiness.

Between the lower price tag and the (lack of a required) meal plan, each of my kids figure they will save about $1500 this year. I personally haven’t seen the rooms, but my son said they are not as large as Reynolds where he was last year, but not as small as the other shared-bath dorms. I’m unsure how they can put four people in one room unless some of the rooms are extra-large – perhaps they overbook a bit knowing that some kids won’t show.?

PS: My son had so many issues with the suite-style bath at Reynolds (lock-outs, water on the floor, and filth) that he actually wants the community style dorm!

A quad may just be temporary. They may still be placing 4 in a triple just long enough to sort out the rest of the rooms. Hang in there. Having a room on campus is great. And I agree that Deviney’s location is good. It is central, no meal plan required. And it is a social dorm.

ahh thanks!i’m just glad i got a dorm!if it is temporary thou does that mean i could b moved to a completely different building?

Yes, you could probably be moved to a different building, but they probably overbook every building a bit to avoid having to do that. Also, since Deviney is older, some people may be requesting transfers and that will open up slots.

On the housing Facebook page, a couple of people said they were given 3 roommates in buildings that didn’t have quads. They said this was “something like a waitlist” and you won’t have 3 roommates.

My son just finished his sophomore year. We were very pleased with the dorm for freshman year, but he’s living off campus now and is looking for a roommate for the
2010-2011 school year. For those who are looking for off-campus housing this is a great experience-providing a chance to live independently and have comraderie as well. The location is convenient to TCU, FSU and FAMU. Post a reply if you need an off campus option

I need a place ! I waited too long thinking I was safe for the Honors dorm (didn’t think there were more honors students then available space) so I got waitlisted and won’t find out if I get a room til 8/18. So yea I’ll be a freshman and need a place to stay…

you guys really are a big help thanks!!

I would just like to clear a few things up on here that I have read so far:

For whoever posted they were in a basement – the 0 floor DOES have windows and you are not below ground. Cell phone reception is not a problem in those rooms. I was in one the other day.

Salley is currently undergoing quite a bit of work, as is Deviney, and both should be fresh for the fall.

Community style halls are nothing to be scared of! They are fun, lively, social, places to live !

The rooms in Deviney are not small at all. They are generously sized in my opinion.
