Fall housing

Does anyone know when he hear back about our assignments? I applied way late and I really want to know if I got Landis.

at orientation, they said letters will be going out with dorm assignments during the first week of june (beginning next week)

good luck

When I looked last night at the account statement (on secure apps) we have been charged for our dorm. The amount charged doesn't really match exactly with the summer rates -- our fee was $920 -- but that must mean they're sending out dorm assignments soon. Note: we have only been charged for summer dorm...not fall yet (I think.)

i saw the same charge this am. it makes sense. the summer housing fee for gilchrist (my son's first choice) is $1,020. we paid a $100 deposit, so the $920 makes sense. must mean dorm assignments are coming out any day now.

hope everyone gets the dorm they want

When is the last day to update the Fall '08 housing contract? I just went in and was able to change it, since I changed my mind after I went to orientation and toured the dorms some more. Will the change take effect? I would think that they would take the application down if they were to not allow any more changes though.

hey pistolen! who was your small group leader? and what floor were you on? :]

and nycollegedad, i met your daughter :]]

I was on the 5th floor, and Cami was my leader (California Dreamers, best group ever!) How about you?

I saw someone with a shirt on that said "Live Love Laugh", and I was wondering if it was you. Were you dancing a lot?

Thanks nycollegedad. That makes sense on the fees. Pistolen, I called housing a while back and they said as long as the change was made (for Fall) before June 1, it would be fine. But I'm not sure, since they're sending out assignments beginning next week. My understanding is that they'll send Summer and Fall assignments at the same time. Surely they'd take it down if you weren't able to change it any more? Maybe some of the more experienced Nole parents will have better advice. (Sorry I can't be more helpful!)

GaNoleMom-

Thank you for clearing that up, I'm just wondering how they plan on assigning ~5000 people to dorms in a matter of a few days, they must be putting in some serious overtime this week, haha.

Well anyway, I had a great time at orientation and met a lot of really cool people. I really can't wait until Fall. I did notice how extremely over prepared I was though, most people didn't even know about the liberal studies requirements (while I've had my entire schedule planned out for months!). A lot of the information was stuff I already knew, but it was still fun regardless.

Computer program would be my guess.

Well yeah, but I'm sure there are special cases that require the staff to review, and problems always occur. I just think it seems cutting it close to expect the matching process to begin/end, to make sure everything is correct, to print out all the letters, and to mail them all out in a matter of 2-3 days.

Pistolen - maybe you could call housing today and ask them about the dorm situation? That way you can be sure. Glad you had such a great time at orientation! My s did too...it is very motivating and inspiring. He is really looking forward to it too. The orientation experience made it "real" for him.

i am glad everyone has enjoyed their orientation experience so far. it really is an exciting time for prospective students and their families.

livelovelaugh

i found your post about meeting my daughter really interesting, considering the fact that I do not have a daughter. can you tell me a what she is like???

pistolen, i was in cali's dreamers also (eeee!) hahah. but i was on the fourth floor. my name's bailey, if you remember me :]

and nycollegedad, i'm so sorry about the mix up! i met skiibird's daughter, and she was telling me about someone at orientation with us who's dad was nycollegedad. i must've been disoriented from lack of sleep sheepish sorry =/ i feel a bit stupid.

livelovelaugh

You met my daughter at orientation and she spoke very highly of you! I am glad you two had a chance to become aquainted! (It is a small world!)

We had a great time at orientation, but are trying to recouperate!

Hope everyone gets their first housing choice!

aw, thanks! it was great getting to know your daughter as well, since we were both without very many friends in that group. it was fun to talk about books with someone, and i hope we'll see each other during the fall :]

Haha, yeah I remember you. We definitely had the best group, I really had a lot of fun. (I'm Elliot by the way). I can't wait to get my housing assignment (although I'm sure I got my first pick with my #21 priority number :P )

ohh hey! haha, yeah, our group was definitely amazing.

You're so lucky about your number...mine is in the mid 3000's =/ Are you in honors?

It's a long story, but I'm bored so here it goes:

I got a 30 on the ACT, 1340/1600 on the SAT,and a 4.0W GPA (3.6UW).
We bought a house and are remodeling it, but we set it as our primary address because we plan on moving there. The letter of invitation came there and someone put it in my room. It somehow got lost in the random piles of paper and books in my room, and I never found it. I came across it not too long ago and saw that I had missed the deadline by a couple months. I faxed it in anyway, but I'm not sure if they still let me in.

I put Landis as my #1 choice, but I don't really think I'll mind if I didn't get it. My second choice was Wildwood (which doesn't require a mealplan), so I'll save some money there. Since the priority registration doesn't take effect until Spring, I'll still get that (if I get in laterally). The honors courses don't really interest me much anyway.

I think I'll give them a call anyway and see if they'll still consider me.

ah, gotcha. well goodluck with all of those plans :] i'm sure you'll have a good year regardless of dorm.
