Hi. I am interested in doing a business internship, starting this fall. I will be applying to UC Berkeley for Haas for fall 2007 admission. I wanted to know whether starting an intern now will not be looked upon too well with adcoms. Will they think it was just another effort to add one more thing to my resume? Would they have preferred I had done an internship earlier and subsequently made it more long term? Would it be better to do the intern now or just not do it at all?

I think it's fine, as long as your application is pretty strong. ECs are not weighed as heavily for transfers as freshmen, so you should be okay. Have you gotten an internship or are you looking for one just now? How are your stats?

My stats are pretty good. I have a strong GPA, 4.0, as well as pretty good EC's and leadership positions. I'm looking for an internship, possibly at Charles Schwab or Morgan Stanley. The reason I want to do this internship is because I recently cut back my hours at my workplace due to a heavy course load this semester. I'm hoping an internship will be flexible with the hours though.

it wont be. we have until january to build our applications.
