I know school starts August 24, but when do most people start to move in?
You will be assigned a move-in time and date, starting on August 19.
The reason for the assigned time is to limit over-crowding. You can also move in after 6pm (?, I think) without an assigned time. If you plan on rushing, you’ll likely want to move in early.
It should be in the e-mail they will send out with your assigned date and time.
Depends on where the student is living.
On campus/regular dorms start moving in on August 19th this year.
The luxury dorms like Ivy House and Windsor Hall (not owned or managed by UF) move in earlier. This year, move in starts August 15th in Ivy and the Building A at Windsor — that way, EVERYONE who is going to rush a sorority can be moved in before the mandatory recruitment meeting on August 18th.
Rental apts and houses vary greatly-- most move in between August 7th and August 22nd. It’s mostly upperclassmen in those places, and students move in earlier so that they can stay in town during pre-class activities (for instance, if they are in a leadership position in a Sorority or Frat, they may be involved with management of recruitment, so they have meetings or an in town internship).
