When will most schools make their applications available for the freshman class of 2009?

If up and coming seniors are supposed to have some applications mailed back by early November to be first in line for merit scholarships when can they expect to see the needed applications from their college of choice? Does the common application change from year to year?

Best to wait for Fall 09 application. Most schools update to new application over summer, some late summer. Just watch the website of schools you are interested in applying.

New applications come out between June and October depending on school with most in the September range. The common app may or may not have minor changes from year to year and thus you should wait for the 2008-09 one to come on-line (likely sometime in June). Colleges generally do not want to receive applications (including common app) until the time they set for beginning to do so.

You can use this year’s applications to start essays. While there may be some changes in essay topics, your essays could be adapted or revised to fit. It’s also a good idea to see how to format extracurriculars and honors. There’s a lot of preparation that can be done in advance.

The common app is usually available july before the senior year. You will have plenty of time to do your early apps before mid-November. Some non-common app schools don’t post their new app until August or September.

Some schools have already updated their admissions websites to accommodate Fall 2009 applicants, for example Wash U St. Louis. Completely confused the heck out of myself actually the other day when I went there.
