Fall of 2016 Applicants

@texangirl505 Based on everyone else’s previous posts, probably soon (: That’s simply my own speculation though.

@JTUni20 what majors did you apply for and are you an auto admit?

My son’s stats - SAT 2220 (750/760), top 11% in a very competitive high school, wide variety of EC’s with some state level awards(band, debate, piano, Eagle Scout), 5 APs by Junior year (AP English, Chem, Music Theory, USHistory, World History). Will get 6 more APs in Senior year.

@texangirl505 Non-auto admit,(top 10 percent), and Psychology, BS

@NNM1416 He was accepted for what major?

@JTUni20 congrats! best of luck :slight_smile:

@texangirl505 Oh, I haven’t been admitted yet, still waiting. Hopefully though! Best of Luck to you too :-*

Around what time do admissions decisions come out?

Has anyone who applied to Dean’s scholars heard anything yet on admission to major or to Dean’s?

@JTUni20 - He got into Computer Engineering (Electrical Engineering)

@Bailey101 -admitted to CNS- physics. I think a remember a few others posting admittance to CNS majors. Either here or on the other thread: “The University of Texas Class of 2020 Decisions Thread”

I don’t think anyone has posted about Dean’s yet.

Has anyone applied on or after Oct 15 and got accepted to the College of Liberal Arts?

OOS School of Architecture applicant here. They received all my required stuff November 15, with recs resume and all the other supplemental stuff trickling in until November 17. Not applying to any honors. Any guesses as to when I’ll hear back?

Does anyone know if you can get into two honors programs as an incoming freshman? I was recently accepted to BHP but I also applied to Health Science Honors.

You can be in Plan II and another honors program (like BHP). Not sure about BHP and Health Science Honors.

HI Guys,

Does anyone know which chemical engineering program does Purdue or UT Austin have better? I got in to Purdue last week and looking at the rankings, UT is slightly higher but for all other engineering and engineering in general, it seems that Purdue is better. Also, when does UT Austin start to release decisions?

Thanks

@MasterOfDecept
UT Austin definitely has a better chemical engineering program. UT Austin is ranked at #4 at chem engineering.
Purdue is really easy to get in, whereas it is bit hard to get in UT Austin.
UT Austin already sent out their first decision wave. The second wave is in December I guess.

@yescornell thanks, do you know which dates are they starting to send out their second decision wave?

@MasterOfDecept i have no clue. I guess after the Christmas break?

@MasterOfDecept

If the rankings are that close than I’d go further in depth about the school.

Picking a university isn’t just about the rankings. In my opinion you should ask yourself the following:

  • Would going there make you happy? Do you feel comfortable?
  • What is the surrounding area like?
  • Is the culture/atmosphere appropriate for your personality?

I got accepted into UT’s School of Engineering, but my dream school (who has not replied yet) is like in the 20s-30s for engineering. While that’s not an amazing ranking, going there would make me happy the most, it fits my personality type and I love the general atmosphere of the culture and the surrounding area.

Maybe you don’t really care too much about what I’ve said, but hopefully you’ve at least thought about it.
