Fall of 2016 Applicants

@sunbeams

Ah I see. Yea, more ACT’s could have helped. Painful, both worth it. I actually took it five times :S

So someone on Facebook posted that a small wave will be released around New Year’s, he called and asked admissions.

@sarangooL Your hard work paid off! Now you can enjoy the new year and the rest of the 2nd semester! Good luck at Rice!

I applied to Texas State, St Edward’s, and A&M. Haven’t heard back from A&M. I got accepted into SEU and Texas State. (I was an auto admit for Texas State because of their SAT score policy.)

I’ve thought long and hard about taking CAP, but I already have 60 credits, and while U.T is my top choice, it is very hard to justify shelling out the extra money and time. So at this point, it’s either I get accepted, or it doesn’t happen period.

It’s been a very nerve racking process. I just hope this comes to a (happy) end soon.

@MrFoster46 I understand your desire for UT. It is 2nd Son’s wish as well and he is still in review for engineering. He already has his acceptance to A&M engineering and UTA as back up plan. That said, our eldest son attends Texas State. He had the credentials to go elsewhere and was headed OOS. To make a long story short, a last minute change of plans and he had to apply to an instate school that still had open admissions. Texas State has been a wonderful experience for him and has done really well. If money is at all an issue, I can tell you that with 2 kids in college and a third one fall 2016, Texas State is by far the less expensive of them all, and that is even with instate tuition scholarship package for our OOS daughter. Not to mention, it is in the Texas Hill country and a stone’s throw from a lot of neat places in TX. Good Luck.

What is CAP?

Coordinated Admission Program

Also you should be aware of PACE

http://admissions.utexas.edu/enroll/pace

These are alternative programs that are offered to those who do not receive offers of admission on February. They are great programs for some and not great for others. Generally, the more AP and dial credit you have, the less likely they work for you.

Got into ECE on December 17th and was non auto. Applied December 1st.

I am a freshman applying to cockrell. You guys think I have a chance at aerospace engineering if I only got SAT scores of M: 620 R: 650 W: 730? I feel like these scores are way too low. I am also top 5% in my class.

@krn123 If you are auto admit you will be in UT Austin. But eng reviews candidate holistically. So score helps in calculating AI (Academic Index). The other is PAI (Personal Achievement Index) which requires EC related to Aerospace…and sports…etc

@bk1366 I know, but just looking at my SAT scores, do you think they are too low for cockrell?

@krn123

UT uses a formula for the Academic Index for Engineering to predict your first year engineering GPA. Your scores along with your rank, give you a predicted GPA of 3.23. The formula ignores CR scores.

The cut off for Aerospace for internal transfers last year was 3.29 with technical GPA of 3.33 as per this link

Hope that helps

Anyone know if they will release any decisions this week?

Got Turing letter today.

@krn123 It is difficult to say. My understanding is they plug the score into the AI formula and use that assess your admission. Score by itself is borderline. You have to keep your fingers crossed.

So has anyone heard if they’ll release decisions this week?

Well, the Admissions office website states they have a skeleton crew (but, it could be handled remotely… just answering phones & emails, etc.) so, I would lean towards not this week.

@Dddok5 did get a letter from Honors but, that is a completely different office so, again not highly likely for general admissions notifications.

Hopefully more will hear after the new year.

I just found this thread. I got my acceptance like two weeks ago for entry-level biology at UT. However, I did not gain auto-admission (not top 7% of my HS graduating class). I’m waiting for a response from the Health Science Scholars program. When do the decision for honors programs come out?

@Krystamarie3 that’s how it was last year, I thought I didn’t get in, but I was admitted for engineering during the 3rd wave which was on february 19th

Hey guys. Happy new year! I read in this thread that someone said a small wave would be released on new years day. I haven’t heard anything from UT, but I was wondering if anyone got in today? Or was that information about the small wave false?
