Just called admissions to ask about the lack of change in MyStatus. They were pretty confused about it, too, but said finally that the email was probably to notify me about my major being approved (this happened a week ago) and that it’d probably just arrived late.
@IAMomofTwins I also have twins. Identical boys. And I feel your pain about one hearing news and the other not. The one with “slightly” lower gpa and “slightly” lower test scores got his acceptance today. But his brother not yet. It is probably going to be an all or nothing for us as well, which as a family we feel we have to respect. But for the one who is accepted he is thrilled have an acceptance into RTF for film production. We’ve applied to 9 schools for film production/animation and it is a relief to finally hear something from someone! The wait to hear back is just killing us as parents!
OOS guy here not really expecting to get in but I was wondering how long it should take for a decision? I applied late November for CS. Still have the in review as it was day 1 lol.
@BRUNKUIN What school in Cockrell are you applying to? Yesterday, some decisions went out and per CC and the 2020 class facebook page, they were for electrical, petroleum, BioMed and some others. I listed the ones people stated in an earlier post this morning. If you read up on posts, you can find it.
Also, know one knows when decisions are going to go out. People just get notified with no warning by an email they receive telling them to check their status or they just happen to be checking their status and their acceptance is waiting.
Where are you applying from?
@basedchem since you were looking to rescind your application today and instead were accepted, will you accept this offer of admissions to UT or did you make a decision on another school?
@waitingnwaiting It’s nice to hear from someone who knows how this feels! (My boys are also identical) In my case it was the one with the slightly better stats who has been accepted, but it’s Son #2 who really has his heart set on UT. As long as the wait was until now, it will seem longer until we hear something on him. Good luck to your other son!
For CS he has to show really good Math (videogames require higher level of Math understanding than many other CS areas), for RTF he’d better show some related activities in resume or even portfolio / projects.
If he originally did not submit anything like this he can always do it now while he is in review.
@BRUNKUIN To my memory, I do not recall any Mechanical Engineering acceptance yet to date. That is what my son is waiting on as well. Reading posts from last year about this time, there were many decisions for aerospace and mechanical that came out the third Friday of February.
Our family sure would like to know, as most everyone else does, but I guess we will when it shows up. If he does not get Mechanical at UT, he will not accept any other offer (CAP, etc), and will accept admissions to his backup school, TAMU or UT Arlington.
@Thelma2 I was going to withdraw because I was accepted ED elsewhere. Technically, I turn 18 (I’m legally an independent by then, so I do have the right to do so) before Commitment Day, so I can worm out of the ED binding agreement IF anything happens. If anything does happen, then yes, UT would be one of my top choices.
