Attending the fall open house on the 22nd. Did anyone attend the one on Sept 8th?
Any suggestions?
This one starts at 1 pm so we will have to get lunch first. Anyone have lunch ideas? I hope someone tells me it's worth it - we are driving 10 hours!

justamom
if you are driving 10 hours, I hope you are planning to stay over till Saturday!
I would suggest trying to make it in time to have some lunch in the dining areas of the Russell House, which is the main student "union" building on campus. On the upper level there are the typical fast food court style choices like Burger King,Taco Bell, etc but downstairs is the "Grand Marketplace" which is varied hot line, sushi, salad, etc. In either area you'll get a good look at a cross section of the student body of USC. Theres also a Barnes and Noble Bookstore there (the campus bookstore) with a Starbucks attached. Wander around. If its nice out (and it usually is there) hang out on the Patio (the area outside Russell House). The more your student can see what others there look like the better they can envision themselves there. Is your student a potential Honors College student? Perhaps you can add a tour of the Honors freshman dorm (Maxcy) so your student could see where they might be living.Ditto for Capstone, if they are interested in that program.
If you need hotel ideas, PM me!

Thanks! I think we will get into Columbia on Sat morning and spend the morning checking the place out - lunch suggestions were great. Look for my pm....

I am pretty sure dorm tours are on the agenda, but thanks for the great suggestion.
