I am heading to UC Davis as a chemical engineering major, but I am thinking of switching to be a chemistry major, minoring in education. What classes do you suggest me to sign up for at orientation? (I’m in group 10) If it matters, I should be classified as a sophomore when I register for classes for the winter quarter. I am thinking of taking honors general chemistry, classical physics, and another class, perhaps math (linear algebra/differential equations), a writing class to fulfill the lower division writing requirement, or a class that I need for the education minor. Any suggestions?

You sound like you know exactly what you want, more or less, and are way ahead of most people. I would go with the writing/GE class though, as you will probably want a less math/science intensive load fall quarter so that you have time to meet other new students and settle in.

Goodluck on getting an early number at orientation!

haha thanks…I can still use some advice though! And because I am in group 10, does that mean I get last choice of classes? Since that would be pretty stupid, engineers getting last pick.

No, they open up spots in classes during each orientation, so later orientations aren’t at a disadvantage.
