I was considering doing fall recruitment this year, but I was wondering if there were only a couple of sororities that I am interested in, if I am required to go to all the rush week events. Could I choose to only go to the events of the sororities that I am interested in?

Yes, due to the nature of fall recruitment, you must visit all chapters. To sum up how recruitment works, the first night there is an orientation that explains the basics of recruitment and how to dress for each night. The next day (Saturday between week 1 and 2) is Go Greek Day, where you visit each sorority for about 20/30 minutes, with a break in between. Then, at the end of the night, you will pick your top choices and rank them, and the sororities do the same (it is a mutual selection process). Each following night you’ll visit fewer and fewer sororities and spend more time with each one. So the next night, philanthropy night, you’ll visit 6 chapters, then the next night, sisterhood night, you visit 4 chapters, and on preference night you’ll visit only 2, and on bid night you finally get to join your chapter!
Some chapters do offer bids to girls after formal recruitment is over, but not all chapters will do this, so I strongly encourage you to participate in formal recruitment to meet all the different sororities.
That was longer than I thought but I hope you can understand the process a little bit better now! You can also check out tritongreeks.org/phc for more information

funstuff said it all very well!
the only thing is, the only night you’re guaranteed to visit chapters is the first night, go greek night. after that, based on the mutual selection process you will visit UP to 6 chapters on philanthropy night, UP to 4 chapters on sisterhood night and UP to 2 chapters on pref night. i just wanted to make that clear because you’re not guaranteed to visit the maximum number of chapters, so if this happens i don’t want you to be disappointed.
anyways, i know you’re only interested in a few chapters, but try going in open minded. every chapter is working their butts off for you, so that is really special:)
(obviously i know this is easier in theory, but i was a rho chi last year so i am all about giving everyone a chance because i have met amazing women in every chapter.)

but, i hope one of the chapters you’re considering is my chapter;)
and i can’t wait to meet you in the fall!

Totally agreed about going in with an open mind - some chapters will really surprise you! In a good way :)

Thank you guys for your replies!
I will keep an open mind in the process. I have seen the sorority chapters on campus and they all seem very nice and involved :)

lol paradise17, rho chi is one of the sororities i’m interested in. I know a girl in your chapter who got me interested in the sorority.

I was also wondering, I think I would be an atypical sorority girl (like I like video games and stuff). Would that be strange?

haha thanks for your help :)
