Fall Semester vs. Spring Semester

Does it matter if you apply to a college/university for the Fall semester or the Winter semester in terms of scholarship opportunities? Because I heard that schools generally give more scholarships to Fall applicants. Is this true?

It’s true.

Schools will give you Pell grants and Stafford loans (pro-rated) regardless of when you enroll. But other forms of FA–like Perkins loans, SEOG and work/study–are given out on a first-come first-served basis. If you are entering during winter term, those funds are typically all gone by then.
The same is true of any institutional funds–late enrolling students get whatever’s leftover, if anything.

the best pkgs go to incoming fall frosh.

Often NO scholarships are given to Winter/Spring starts.
