Fall Sport = Senior Stress

My D plays a fall sport and dances year-round. She's a junior this year. I have told her for the past year that her essays WILL be written next summer - she won't be allowed to try out for her sport if they're not done. We're also doing the college tours during Feb and April breaks this year.

That said, life is about making choices. It's your daughter's choice if it's worth it to keep up this load. If she's really stressed out, it sounds to me like something's got to give - probably either club or hs diving, whichever she likes least. It has to be her decision, but we are all only given 24 hours in a day.

Also, around here club sports are in the off-season. Neighbors play AAU basketball all year EXCEPT Nov - March, when they play high school, for example.

Karen Colleges - Hi. Yes her athletics will help with the 50 hours of action but at our school she can only get 15 hours in any one sport. She's a 3 sport varsity runner (not sure that that is really different but they are allowing it) and she skis as a hobby so action is NOT a problem. She volunteers at community races over the summer and fall so she SHOULD have enough volunteer hours for service. Problem is the creativity. She is NOT creative and struggles to get enough so now she has signed up at the town to take courses over the fall to get enough creativity hours -- just one more thing.

She took health over the summer. NY requirement - can't get out of it and it's an easy class to take over the summer.

Just a lot to do in short period of time.

Good luck to all the parents. It's always hard to see your kid overwelmed. I just try to tell myself that it's building her character!!

If she doesn't want to continue with the sport, she should quit unless she is leaving her team in the lurch. Life is too short.
