I need some advice for a good engineering college to transfer to. I try to ask the counselors at my community college but their suggestions are too broad.

I've been looking around myself and so far I have:

SUNY at Buffalo
University of Iowa
Georgia Institute of Technology
University of Maryland(default college)

I currently live in Maryland and my stats are(as I've made in another post)

3.69 GPA w. 12 credits(last semester)
3.71 (projected*)GPA w. 21 credits(current)
??? GPA w. 33 credits(by the end of this semester)

I want a good engineering school with good student life, and good intern/research abroad opportunities which is also inexpensive as I can't afford to go to most colleges that are over $40,000 a year

I didn't get my transcript back yet but I have a pretty good idea of what my GPA will look like

Thanks in advance!

EDIT: I forgot to add my major: Mechanical Engineering

UMD is going to be your best bet. Apply to all of their campuses including the ones you added. Drop Iowa and Buffalo. Add Delaware, WVU, UVA. You should get reciprocity to keep your costs down.

Gee, thanks. I never thought about keeping my costs down that way :D

It’s ironic because I (almost) applied for WVU when I was in high school.

I guess I’ll add Virginia Tech to the list as well.

Unless the OP is willing to go into Mining Engineering or something not offered at UMD s/he will not receive reciprocity. http://home.sreb.org/acm/SearchResult.aspx?state=MD That being said, WVU is relatively affordable for an OOS student, as is Buffalo which I would leave on the list.

Is that true for most colleges, or just UMD?

As for Buffalo------I never took it off of the list, it’s just too affordable.

^ Look at the link I posted. The reciprocity is based on college, major and what is available in state.

Yeah, I tried to click it, but a “server error” message showed up.

Care to re-post it? Thanks in advance

Sorry about that. I didn’t realize the search would work that way. Try drilling down from the top level based on the state. Academic Common Market - Southern Regional Education Board;
