Fall Transfer Out of State (Transfer as Junior 2019)

@“Dean J”

Hi Dean J!
I’m sorry to bother you -
I’m currently a freshman at a university in New Jersey, and I applied to UVA senior year of high school, but it has always been my top, and I am planning on applying as transfer for Fall as a rising junior.

I have been reading tons of replies and statistics about transfer to UVA, and I just wanted to reach out to you just for feedback.

My stats:

  • Major: Double major in Political Science and Philosophy (I intend to apply to Political Science or Government at UVA)
  • First generation American student, minority
  • trilingual
  • High school program: International Baccleratue, 4.65 GPA, president of three clubs, over 250+ volunteer hours since the time I was a freshman, planned UNICEF fundraisers, etc
  • High School SAT: (new SAT 1160)
  • intern for Congressman, Hillary Clinton campaign
    College:
  • fulfilled transfer course requirements for UVA except foreign language in college - will take next Semester to fulfill this
  • 3.450 GPA
  • taking summer course at local community college to get more credits
  • total credits by the end of my first year: 30 (I understand UVA will not accept more than 60 by the time of junior transfer)
  • writer for online publication
  • volunteer at hospital and food banks
  • full time job
  • summer internship as an undergrad at NJ’s Office of the Attorney General

Once again, I sincerely apologize for the nuisance.

@“Dean J” I am also taking 300 level courses as a freshman

Sorry, but I don’t play the chances game on College Confidential.

We list the course requirements for each school on our website. Go through them carefully and get as many of those classes done and get good grades in them.
