do other people’s status’s still say “waiting for an initial review”…?

I applied in December and my status was “waiting an initial review” until mid-January when it changed to “We have received all materials required to review your application. Your application will remain in this status until decisions are finalized. We will inform you by postal mail when a decision is made.”

The initial review was just to see if you had all the high school and college course requirements for transferring before they actually review your application for admission.

Mine still says “your application is awaiting an initial review.” I applied on 12 Feb., and I’m guessing most other transfers who applied that late are still in that status.

mine says:

You have applied as a Transfer student to the University of Washington Seattle for autumn quarter 2009. The current status of your application is as follows:
We have received all materials required to review your application. Your application will remain in this status until decisions are finalized. We will inform you by postal mail when a decision is made.

(The status of your application to the UW Seattle was last updated on March 25, 2009. )

Applicants are notified beginning June through July, as soon as an admission decision can be made. Autumn quarter 2009 begins September 30, 2009.

I also talked to a person from admissions at college fair and she said that all colleges in Washington make transfer decisions in the summer. But that is not true for WWU or the other university I applied to, they both need to know by May 1st (next week!!) So stressful.

It’s the same for me. WWU’s transfer acceptance of admission deadline is May 1 and I don’t really think that UW will get back to me in time so I’ll probably just take my chances and reject WWU and hope that UW admits me. It’s insane how long UW is taking to get back to us when they get back to all those freshman so quickly. It’s tough as a transfer student to make any plans, especially since we don’t really have anywhere else to go if UW rejects us (most of us already went to community college) and our backup schools will have already required a decision months before. Definitely stressful!

I think it would be smart to go ahead and accept your second choice college before their May 1 deadline, if the confirmation fee isn’t too large. That way, if UW doesn’t accept you, at least you’ll be able to attend your second choice college. You can always notify them later that you changed your mind if UW comes through with an acceptance. You’d only be out the confirmation fee. The other universities out there don’t seem to be singling out transfer students and making them wait for decisions the way the UW is. It seems ridiculous when a person applies in January and the UW hasn’t even reviewed the application yet at the end of April, just because the applicant is a transfer student.

Does anyone know how accepting your 2nd choice and then cancelling enrollment if UW comes through would affect financial aid? I have to respond to the aid award (basically stafford loans) by May 5. Would it be really messy trying to get aid at UW after having been awarded loans for another school for the same year and then trying to cancel them?

You guys are in a tough situation. Like Transferugh said it’s better to be safe then sorry cause I know a lot of people have already gotten the acceptance letter. FYI even after getting the acceptance letter my status is still the same. “We have received all materials required to review your application. Your application will remain in this status until decisions are finalized. We will inform you by postal mail when a decision is made”

For those who have been accepted as a Transfer applicant. Who received their packed yet?

did anybody heard anything. If so what was stats. Mine is overall 3.59 GPA, and presequete gpa for business school is 3.7. BTW i am transfering from community college

has anyone got reply from UW yet?

i have not heard anything but i did decide to go to another school because of deadlines and financial aid. so there’s an open spot for someone!! good luck everyone!!!

why do they take sooooooooooooo long?!?!!?!
I’m going crazy waiting till June or even July?

just rejected from foster school, because WSA score was lower than 3. so is that mean i rejected from UW too. i chose my second major as economics. i hope i still have chance to get in UW school. right?

I’m so confused by myuw.washington.edu.
I was browsing through the website and I found that UW gave me a student number and under the unofficial transcript tab, I’m under Business School and major Bus Admin (hum res mgt). But I haven’t heard from UW or Foster.

or, is this same for everyone else?
