I really want to get Genes and Human Behavior, but it is only offered at one time (only 12 spots?!), so hopefully it isn't a really popular choice.

Suchy - the freshman seminar essays aren't that bad. They just want to know what you know about the subject, what you'd bring to the discussions, and why you want to take the seminar. If you cover those points, you should be set. :) The essays are straight forward - hard and dry, right? We don't need to write a creative piece like the admissions essays, right?

I think they're pretty open-ended. You can be creative if you want to be, but mainly they just want to make sure you're really interested.
I think my essays really sucked because I didn't know about the topic (but that's why I want to learn about it...see?)

Yeah Zant - I think that's the best approach for an essay like the Ocean's one, because I'm not sure how many people have studies marine life and been snorkeling in Bermuda :p The main reason to take that particular FS is because it is so different, new and fulfills the ST  so just telling them you're interested in something new should be ok. Go suchy!!! Don't be afraid to write the essays, you can always turn down the FS if you decide you'd rather not do it.

Yeah I know but I don't want to take one in the same semester as the writing seminar and I like the Spring ones more in any case and at this point I don't feel like writing any essays. This may change in 2 hours or 2 days or it may not change until the deadline's passed - lets see :)

I think it works to your advantage not to take a fall one if you REALLY want a spring one; people who don't take fall seminars get preference in the spring.
