Hi! im interested in going to miami ohio and the business school in particular. I go to an all boy jesuit high school, have a 3.4 unweighted gpa (school does not weight) and got a 31 on my ACT. Im just wondering if i would be offered direct admit for Farmers and if i would receive any merit? i believe i could get the 10k scholarship but just wondering from anyone else. Thanks!!

anybody?

Here are the Farmer stats for the fall of 2014 incoming class: For Fall 2014, the middle 50% of students gaining direct entry into the FSB held an ACT Composite Score of 27-31 and/or a SAT (C+M) score of 1210-1360. In addition, the middle 50% held a GPA of 3.68-4.09 (on a 4.0 scale) and a class rank of top 6% to 23%. Twenty-five percent of the students offered direct admission had an academic profile that exceeded these ranges and 25% had a profile that fell below. Note that if you do not receive direct admission into Farmer you will need an overall 3.5 GPA your first year to be accepted in your second your. I can’t comment on merit $.

Thank you so much!

I would think you have a good chance for direct admit. Have you taken the required Calc course?

I thought that Calc was a freshman year course at FSB? yes?

Calculus is a 5 credit hour course required of all Freshman business students whether directly admitted or accepted for the 2nd year. It is a killer. But you can take it in high school or thru AP.

The average GPA for this course is between a C and a C+ so it makes it hard to attain a 3.5 when you have a 5 hour C!!

Thanks for the Comment @Pat3797 I haven’t heard yet so I’m hoping it comes soon because some friends have already got accepted. Miami is my number one choice so lets hope for the best!

My son received his Miami admittance over the weekend. He is planning to major in economics, but they put him in the A&S (with an invitation to join the Honors Program) instead of the Farmer School, where he wants to be. (They have 3 econ majors – two in A&S and one in Farmers and there wasn’t a way to identify that on the common app.) Any idea if he can transfer in advance. I would think he would make it in… 33 ACT 4.2w GPA. Anyone have that come up?

@momother Oh he certainly would. I would look up your specific admission counselor on the website and email him/her asking how you can make the switch. I am sure he would be accepted with his awesome grades! Congrats

BTW, I believe there is a way of identifying Farmer Direct interest on the Common App. You would need to select Business-Economics instead of Economics. It isn’t really clear from the first reading of the list, but because Economics exists in two schools, you need to select Business-Economics to be considered for Farmer Direct. For majors not in schools other than Farmer, like Finance, you would just select that major on the application. Hope that helps anyone as confused as we were about the process.
