Family-like environment

I just got my acceptance to PPU MT and am now in the process of narrowing down my choice of schools. I’ve discovered that one of the most important things for me to have in a school/program is a sense of a family like environment within the theatre department. It is very important to me that my classmates are not only supportive of me, but also people I will be able to be great friends with throughout the four years of college. I was wondering if any current or past students of Point Park could put in a few words about what they feel like the environment of the program is like. Leaving my high school theatre family is going to be really hard, and I want to make sure I will be going to a place where I will have that same sense of community.

Hey there! I’m a sophomore MT, and I would definitely say that our theatre department is like a family. All of my classmates are super supportive of each other; I always feel like my classes are safe places where I can take risks and make mistakes. Freshman year, everyone basically lives on top of each other in the dorms, so everyone gets close that way. Beyond freshman year, most upperclassmen move off-campus into houses and apartments that are all within an area of about 5 blocks. It feels like we live in our own little community. Even though our program is fairly sizable, I feel like we’re all pretty close knit.
