Utah's great, have you been there? I'm not talking about the cities; to me, visiting a city isn't a vacation. I'm talking about the natural beauty of the state, the national parks, mountains, etc. The people one sees there are tourists of every denomination from all over - not just Mormons although I see nothing wrong with Mormons.

Waikiki is good too. Hawaii is great, the ethnic food there is not what I expected it would be.

Japan is also a good place to visit if you like the technology and food. It's also very clean there.

Maine is a good place to go during the summer if you like to go camping. The temperatures actually gets up to the high 90s in Maine during the summer.

Oh if you want to go to some place exotic, go to Thailand. There is this very weird food that I ate there that was called "cat crap" in Chinese. It wasn't really crap though. It was some meat product.

Disneyguy ok, then for me the best vacation destinations in this country alone would be:

Valencia, California
Jackson, New Jersey
Arlington, Texas
Sandusky, Ohio
Agawam, Massachusetts

Simply because they include the following:
Six Flags Magic Mountain
Six Flags Great Adventure
Six Flags Over Texas
Cedar Point
Six Flags New England

Six Flags New England....be sure to check your seatbelt on the Superman ride or...you'll probably die. The russian employees will NOT check it for you, good luck not dying!

Since you said winter vacation, and you mentioned Maui and Mexico, does that mean you don't ski? If you ski, go to Canada. It is pretty easy to get to Whistler from California, and Vancouver is an awesome place. If you are looking for beaches, go to another one of the Hawaiian islands, or take a caribbean cruise. There are lots of those around for a winter vacation. If you don't want to take a cruise but the caribbean sounds good, go to St. John (USVI) and you can visit other islands by ferry.

Can we all agree that Six Flags Great Adventure is perhaps the best amusement park ever built with Kingda Ka, El Toro, Superman, Stuntman's Drop, The Chiller, Batman and Robin, and Nitro we just can't be beat so don't bother ;), but yeah we're pretty cool though.

ucla_ dad : i moved to utah and i just find it boring. its good for outdoor activities but to me i like california or places like baltimore and D.C. a lot better.

DC I agree with...but Baltimore? Unless you stick to the inner harbor or downtown, but it gets old after a while

I liked Utah's skiing. Thats why I picked it as a good vacation spot...only stay for a week or two to get away from everything. I found it very enjoyable.

I second El Conquistador, though I never stayed there, but my sis went last summer and they got the VIP treatment b/c her boyfriend had connections and I've seen pictures and it just looks amazing

im from cali 2 and for winter break i always want to go somewhere where it snows for a real winter...new york would be awesome or someplace with a real winter village like setting...a huge cabin with a jacuzzi ( u kno a typical winter scene from a movie)

And, I agree that Utah can be an excellent choice for its natural beauty. Zion Nat'l Park and Bryce Canyon are impressive. Or, you could do a good deed that would make you feel good and vacation here:
