Is Family Weekend mostly for freshman? We went last year when our d was a freshman, but this year it is over Halloween weekend. I anticipate moaning and groaning from younger sibs if they are forced to leave town that weekend. D doesn't claim to care either way right now, but I think she may feel differently if all her friends are off with their parents that weekend and she is alone. I asked D to find out from her friends if their parents are planning to attend and we will figure it out from there. We live in Cal, so plan to only visit 1-2x a year. Thoughts?

No, a lot of families come every year. My parents are coming for my senior parent weekend. Over the summer it might seem like not a big deal, but when the weekend rolls around and everyone is busy with their families it might be more of a big deal. Obviously not all parents come, but a good number of families with students in every come.

Agree w/ scarletleavy – we’ve been to all Family Weekends, and will go again this year. (D is a senior.) D enjoys having us there, and we, of course, love having a chance to visit with her.

Thanks for the wise advice - I think you are right scarletleavy, it might not seem like a big deal to her now, but she is bound to feel differently when everyone is with their parents.
