Eloise from the Plaza!

Lady Gaga in her 10 inch McQueen “lobster claw meets hoof” heels visiting art galleries in Chelsea and Belgian fry places in the East Village.

(As of tonight that is)

Does it have to be an actual person? what about something more obscure like the Coke sign in Times Square? ;)

well, don’t know if it has to be a “person” per se, but it probably shouldn’t be “obscure”, after all, you don’t want the adcoms to wonder what you’re talking about- hence why they asked for “famous” New Yorkers

Mine hasn’t been mentioned at all, I will tell people who have already applied, but it’s really different and creative

could you pick a character from a Bestseller?
Like schuyler van alen from Melissa de la Cruz’s Blue Bloods?

Maybe this is just me, but if I picked a fictional character, I’d choose one from literature, not a “bestseller” (though of course there are works of literature that are bestsellers and vice versa). The classics are considered classics for a reason, and usually they have much more three-dimensional characters than can be found in most modern books.

Is picking someone from TV bad? You guys seem to have chosen inspirational people, I’ve chosen someone from 30 rock!

naw i dont think so. i think the the thing to remember is to be CREATIVE. that’ll probably give u a better chance at being admitted.

mine is betty suarez!

i wanted to pick liz lemon too! she rocks but i choose betty suarez instead. shes inspirational and a tv character too. aint nothing wrong with that i guess

There isn’t anything wrong with choosing Liz Lemon / Betty Suarez. I had picked Tina Fey (ED), and I got in. Don’t know if that one question had a lot to do with my acceptance, but there isn’t anything wrong with picking a character like that.

Is Bill Cosby a “famous New Yorker”??

How long are these supposed to be?? and the poem?
Its terrible that I havent even started mine yet…

its ok. i barely started yesterday :)

ah, i seeee…
so yeah, how long shoudl they be?
it says 600 words or less, but that seems a bit much for the short answer…

haha… maybe 500 characters or less.
characters as in “I am screwed” is 12 characters…

It should be approximately 600 CHARACTERS INCLUDING SPACES.

This is if for those applying via NYU’s website / Embark.

It’s 500 characters for those applying via the CommonApp.
