Famous People

I believe the question was:

"Any famous current students or recent graduates (last 15 years) from dartmouth"

Can't wait to find out the famous grads from Seton Hall and Cornell and Delaware etc....

(1) People had already started discussing other schools

(2) The whole thread was merely for entertainment/waste time/jack up post count, so I didn't feel that the constraints were vitally important.

wow the Harvard list is embarrassingly long.

I mean for them, not for us.

yeah, preach it Kelly87

Lol.

Well, keep in mind that it's "Harvard people," not just alumni -- that means professors, grad students, donors, maybe even more distant connections than that.

In addition to Kelly's list

Thaddeus Stevens--Radical Republican, class of 1814
James Forrestal--first Secretary of Defense, class of 1915 (transferred to Princeton)

Well, at Dartmouth, I met one of the girls that was a Movie Surfer on Disney.

oh yeah, how could i forget. i must have heard "that girl was on the movie surfers" about twenty times while i was there.

no way! which one?

her name's at the tip of my tongue. rory...rosie...i'll see if i can get a picture

I think it's Rudee Lipscomb!!!

I just realized that that girl who was on stage during the 09 welcome show looked really familiar. I might be wrong lol

That's Rudee. Awesome girl, good friend of mine. She did give a speech during Dimensions about how she met her friend during her Dimenions. But there's some other fun alumns!
The guy who is designing the 9/11 Memorial
Head of GE
President of Pepsi (one of the first women grads of Dartmouth)

and those of you at Dimensions should remember our fun lyrics from "We Didn't Start the Fire":
"We're the home of Dr. Seuss.
Robert Frost, he came too
So did Captain Kangaroo" (I worked hard on these lyrics!)

There's lots of other people, but Dartmouth alumns don't tend to be the common household names.
The important thing for those of you who feel a need to list big names is that Dartmouth alumns loved their school, no matter where they ended up. Dartmouth will get you wherever you have the drive to go. There are Harvard grads who drive buses at Universal Studios (I talked to one in Cali, lol).

didn't one of the SNL girls go to dartmouth?

the class of 09 will produce many successful and famous individuals.

Rachel Dratch (SNL) graduated from Dartmouth in 1988

One of the most powerful men in baseball, Sandy Alderson is a Dartmouth alum. Alderson orchestrated the Oakland dynasty in the early 90's and served as president of the Athletics as well. After, he served a tenure as the assistant commissioner of baseball- he was largely seen as a source of reason in the trodden MLB front office. Now he has taken up the position of president of the San Diego Padres where the owner is really being applauded for luring such a great baseball figure toward his club. Alderson has the touch of Midas wherever he goes, and the Padres future looks bright.

oh! something fun i learned today. the new show, Grey's Anatomy, was created and written by an Dartmouth alumn. she likes to throw Dartmouth stuff in every episode (t-shirts, references, etc).

and of course, how could we have forgotten, ANIMAL HOUSE wohoo!

Presidents Bill Clinton, Dwight Eisenhower, John Adams, James Monroe, Franklin Pierce, Woodrow Wilson, Herbert Hoover, and Franklin Delano Roosevelt all received honorary Dartmouth degrees.
