Fancy College Mailings

Just for fun, this is a place to describe and discuss the elaborate, over-the-top college mailings that are starting to show up at our houses! (This fits in the area of National Merit Scholarship because I am sure these fancy mailings aren’t going to the run-of-the-mill high school seniors. The College Board surely charges extra for the NMSF and NM Commended mailing lists.)

I’ll start: Yesterday’s mail brought a thick envelope of 3-D puzzle pieces from Johns Hopkins University. Very creative and expensive-looking, but my kid doesn’t plan to apply there.

MIT, I think because I started their application, sent me an application guide and stuff in a electronics bag instead of an envelope. My mom thought it was cool.

That reference to “run of the mill high school seniors” just might be the single most condescending thing I have ever read on CC.

^^^Should have probably tagged you in my previous thread @prodesse. ^^^ So glad you are excited for your NMSF, but referring to kids who didn’t score so highly on their PSAT as “run of the mill” is just … well… insulting. SMH at the arrogance.
