Please respond!!!

Your GPA is too low for Georgetown, Wake Forest, and Notre Dame. Not sure about the others.

@wallrus75 Really? I know definitely Notre Dame and Georgetown, but I thought Wake was a little easier. Also I have 3 family members that attended Notre Dame which may help me…?

Not too sure about Wake Forest. Maybe I thought it was more selective than it is.

Legacy at Notre Dame helps, a lot. If your parents went there, you have a 50% acceptance rate.

No, 3 of my cousins did which is why I wasn’t sure if it would help me at all, but hey you never know! Also I think Wake Forest might be around the same difficulty as Villanova in PA.

I think you will get in to a very high percentage of your choices. I think visiting and documenting school visit with the admit office may be a useful endeavor. I think you might want to add a couple of reachier schools if you like them. The process is pretty arbitrary. I think people often were wrong in predicting where they’d get in.

Make sure that your essays are non generic and are school specific. Avoid broadly painted cliches. MIT admissions blog website has some very good essay tips from MIT chris and the other staff admit bloggers.

thank you chancing back now!

Also I would like to mention that I am a fantastic essay writer! Not trying to be cocky but my professional essay counselor said she’s been an “essay nazi” for 25 years and has never seen essay’s like mine or as good as mine. Maybe that will help me for the smaller schools…?

bumppp!!!

I agree with mrcyna, except that I would put Wake as a high match and Claremont Mckenna as a reach.
You are not legacy at Notre Dame, and even if you were, you would not be a match. I know too many kids with your stats rejected from ND with legacy standing. Knowing someone is not going to help, unless you already know you are an in there. Do you have any safety schools on your list?

Yes I’ve already gotten into Fordham, Santa Clara, Villanova, and Bentley.

Congrats, and you have done very well! I think you have a good shot at URich and Wake. The others are all reaches, Not because you are not a great candiate for those schools, but because at a number of them, they have all the Catholic school girls from NJ with your profile that they want in stack of apps as high as the ceiling. It’s a lottery as to who gets picked and the chances are not good because the pool is so large. UVA looks hard at the GPA and getting in as OOS is as tough as getting into the far more selective schools in the country. Claremont Mckenna is a highly selective LAC, and the kids I’ve seen accepted there, tend to havehigher stats than you do.

Thank you! That’s exactly what I’ve been thinking…I know my school has “connections” with BC so that may be a little less of a reach for me but the others are definitely shots in the dark.

Wake Forest - match, what’s your unweighted GPA? Test optional school means that they won’t put as much weight on your SATs, which are above average here.
UVA - Match
Claremont Mckenna - not sure
Notre Dame - low reach
Boston College - match, stats are in the upper 75th percentile
Georgetown - not sure

oh sorry I put down weighted GPA for 3.65-3.7 I meant unweighted…thank you for the response!

bumpppp   :)

I’ve already chances but I’m not too familiar with these schools honestly. Congrats on acceptances and good luck with the rest!

oops haha thank you anyway!

Univeristy of Richmond - not sure
Wake Forest - low reach
UVA - high reach
Claremont Mckenna - don’t know much about them
Notre Dame - medium reach
Boston College - safety
Georgetown - high reach
