FAQ for December ACT Test Takers

Well, I went in nervous, but i think its okay to be nervous. Just be prepared. Its good to do some reviewing and buy a prep book. Just focus on the sections you scored bad in. For me, that was science, i raised from 19 to 26 from one ACT. Also, its good to pace yourself. What got me on the reading section was my pacing.

still no scores :-(

i bought a prep book and the online program to study before my next test. i guess it's just discomforting, these tests sometimes make me feel totally inept after many years of schooling. even though it is known that these tests do not actually measure intelligence, don't you feel people see your intelligence relative to your score? and the same with colleges? I understand that the tests are necessary, for they offer the colleges a general medium in which they can judge academic aptitude fairly. still, it just doesn't seem right.

^ I totally agree with you, colegePLEASE. Sometimes a very good academically credentialed student's profile can be blown off by standardized tests JUST because he or she may not be a good test-taker or some sort like that. Totally unfair. Injustice.

I don't like being a realist and I don't like having to conform to the world, but the world is like that - unfair. We have to accept the unfairness thrust into our lives... but then again, we have the power to change ourselves.. to adapt. That's what makes us powerful - we can learn and improve, adapt, so that we can overcome those injustices.

I still have to say - I hate standardized tests... and to say hate would be an understatement.

I got my scores! I got a 32. I guess it's okay. They hated my essay though. I guess they don't like SAT styled essays. :P

man I'm still waiting for my October scores, and I got my December scores in the mail today. Damn you ACT!!!

still waiting for December.
And MIT already received them.

First time and I got a 34! This is a lot better than my 195 on the PSATs.

E: 32
M: 34 (Bit disappointed. I must have made some stupid errors)
R: 35 (whao, because I totally ran out of time for the last passage with all the information about the insects and I had to skim and guess)
S: 35 (o__0 I didn't know what I was doing..)
W+E: 29... ouch. 8 on the essay. My thesis was awesome but then I ran out of time.

Think I should retake? I mean, I still have a year...
