FAQ for USC Admissions

Thanks!! This post cleared up one of my questions!

What are the names of the USC merit scholarships? I’m a high school senior and applied to USC through Quest bridge regular decision process. If anybody is familiar with Quest bridge, is my chance on getting accepted kind of good?

Even if you go through the scholarship interviews, is there a chance of you not getting either scholarship? Similar to a job interview and not getting the job?

How many people typically interview and how much does it help your application?

accepted to USC today! Expected, but still exciting!! Also heard the good news from Columbia , Harvard, Princeton, Yale, and Cornell.

Can someone clarify when and how a spring admit may be notified if they are bumped to the fall? There is speculation everywhere on here!
Just want to know and be done with this so can sign a lease for housing. Anyone???

Some have begun to be notified today via email according to FaceBook posts. The inofrmation on this thread http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/university-southern-california/1499978-any-spring-admit-bumped-fall-yet.html</a> is as current as you will get - there is no set date or number for Spring admit notifications, they vary each year.

I see some people saying they got an email or phone call on FB. Where is the email? Personal account? On their website in connect?

Hello, i am wondering when i will hear back. It says online April 1 but my friend told me if i applied by the scholarship date i would hear back earlier. Any confirmation on that?

Hi Sullivan,

A very, very small percentage of those who applied by the scholarship deadline will hear about their admission in late January/early February when they receive invitations to interview for the “big” scholarships [Stamps, Mork, Trustee and Presidential (non-NMF)] along with a notice of admission.

Most freshman applicants (approximately 97%-98% of all applicants) will receive their admission decisions in late March. Notifications will be mailed March 26th and available online on March 29th. [Dates & Deadlines - USC Undergraduate Admission](http://www.usc.edu/admission/undergraduate/apply/dates_deadlines.html)

I read on the USC Admissions twitter page that applicants whom applied before Dec 1st can expect an update in early Feb. What does this update mean?

The update goes out to the applicants who were not selected to interview for the Stamps/Mork/Trustee or Presidential scholarships saying that they were not selected to interview for the Stamps/Mork/Trustee or Presidential scholarships. So it means that you have not been selected to interview for the Stamps/Mork/Trustee or Presidential scholarships. It will not contain clues as to whether you will ultimately be accepted.

The update will ask for midterm (1st semester senior year) grades to be submitted and once again state that you will hear by late March (mailed March 26th, online March 29th) about your admission decision.

Good luck.

can i send an additional recommendation letter?

I just need to vent… ahhh I so so hope I get admitted, and presidential scholarship at least… USC is probs my favorite school of all, I<3 Cali, and this is my one chance to go there for college!!! I need full presidential too, if I want to even consider letting myself go there. Aghhhh, I really pray God, please allow me to go here!!

I had some very extreme personal circumstances last year that I’m afraid is not being reflected upon in my application. Do I send in another essay on it or have a letter of recommendation that talks about it?

On USConnect’s page it’s asking me to upload Academic History. Do I just type out my classes and grades and make a PDF or scan my transcript or something? Their instructions are quite vague.

Also, did everyone have to submit homeless youth documentation or is that just me… -___-

Just wondering. If you apply to USC as a transfer during your first year of CC (future sophomore of USC) by what date do you need 30 units by for them to discredit high school?

Does USC superscore ACTs? I received conflicting opinions on this. I cannot find information concerning this on their website.

The only superscore the SAT. They do NOT superscore an ACT. Please see this page for more information:
