Farmingdale to Stony Brook

I will have completed 2 years at Farmingdale in 2 weeks, and am transferring to Stony in the fall. I know there is some obvious things that'll be different such as larger class sizes, and I'll be in an engineering program instead of a technology program, but anybody here make this transition before? Any advice / comments would be appreciated

How does the workload between the two schools compare, I'm expecting harder classes at stony, but how much harder?

Also what are the library hours / are there any study halls open late at night (like till 1 am or so)?

Scholarships for transfer students at stony brook? I work 40 hours a week and go to school full time(15 credits) right now and have been paying 100% of the cost out of pocket for the last two years. Since I'll be starting upper division courses and the fact that Stony Brook is a harder school, I want to stop doing this. Is there anyway to apply for scholarships at stony brook, I have a great GPA at Farmingdale(3.97), but I have no academic record at stony brook.

If anybody can say, I would like to not have to pay more than half the cost up front(through loans or scholarships) as that'll put a great strain on my budget.

Again, any advice/comments appreciated.

Jimmy,

I am literally in the same situation as you were back at this time. I see that your profile hasn’t been active since 2011. I am hoping that somehow you will see this. If you do, can you please email me at tgenovajr@gmail.com because I have tons of questions.

Thank you,
Tommy

There is definitely transfer financial aid and scholarships. Library hours are 8:30- 2 AM
