I tried to send an email... look at this:

Hi. This is the qmail-send program at yahoo.com.
I'm afraid I wasn't able to deliver your message to the following

This is a permanent error; I've given up. Sorry it didn't work out.

"140.247.35.194 does not like recipient."?? Does somebody have a clue of what it means?

The link is working :)

FAS IT = incompetent. They had the exact same problem Spring 2007... and still don't have redundancy for core systems like email.

Couldn't they use the services of their technologically-inclined partners down the road? And they said they were going to fix it during the winter break!

Maybe the system has a personality? :p That message seems to mean that there is an issue with permission in the network or something like that - a mix-up with the administrators or something like that perhaps.

FAS IT won't use software created by a third party, let alone allow someone else to run their systems!

Makes sense. Imagine what could happen if an MIT fellow got hold of the reins...:p

"That message seems to mean that there is an issue with permission in the network or something like that - a mix-up with the administrators or something like that perhaps."

(sorry, I don't know how to use quotes)
Wow, that's bad! They shouldn't say that the Financial Aid Office email address is that one since we can't even send emails to it!!

And now... the fax line keeps busy, yayyy!!!
yes, I'm getting more and more desperate

Perhaps now you should just call instead - the call should always get through.

Oh, my :(
I just saw it says it's "due in the finaid office by Feb 01" :( I thought the whole time it was a postmark deadline! :/
I sent it on Jan 31, and it won't arrive there for like 2 more weeks. What should I do? Should I contact them and let them know of my confusion and tell them I'd fax the form?
