I’m confused on when should I fill out FASFA. I will graduate this year but I won’t go to college until next year so I figure I should apply for FASFA in October, however, I heard that I should fill out FASFA now. So when should I file it out?
Look at the schools’ websites. I just googled the one for the University of Arizona, for example, and on their FAQ page it says the deadline was Jan 31 for the Arizona Assurance Program (http://financialaid.arizona.edu/faqs) but that the federal aid deadline is much later.
Please tell us what month and year you will graduate from high school, and what month and year you plan to start college. Providing more specific information will help us to answer your question.
Also, it’s FAFSA: Free Application for Federal Student Aid.
I will graduate high school in 2018 and plan to start college in 2019
If you will start in Fall 2019, you will fill out the FAFSA for 2019-20, which will be opened in Oct 2018.
What month in 2019 do you plan to start college?
What part of my request in my post above do you not understand?
I will start college in August 2019
If you will start college in August, 2019, you would not complete FAFSA now; you want to complete the 2019-2020 FAFSA, which won’t be available until October, 2018.
I felt like applying for it now wouldn’t have made sense but I wasn’t sure. Thank you

In another post, you stated that you already graduated from high school and are taking a gap year now.
You also stated that you never took the SAT while in high school, and will be taking it for the first time in November. (I suggest you do some self-studying before taking it.)
Where do you live? You state you want to go to Georgia Tech or UGA. Are you a GA resident?
If your parents don’t want to fill out the FAFSA, can they fully fund your college education? What parameters have they given you for college?
