FASFA after Freshman?

D is a Freshman in college. Last year, we applied for financial aid but did not qualify for anything but the Unsubsidized Federal Stafford loan. Our financial circumstances are about the same. Do we still need to fill out the FAFSA?

Not unless you want the loan.

If you want the Stafford loan again, you need to fill out the FAFSA. If you don’t want that at all, no, you do not have to complete the form.

My oldest son applied each year for his school’s “returning student scholarships”. As a part of the process, a new FAFSA was required to be submitted each year.

That answers my question. Thank you!!
