Fasfa - error?!

hey guys
I'm an international student preparing to transfer to UCI this year

n I'm applying FASFA
well the problem is
I selected FOREIGN COUNTRY as my legal residence
and it said error?!

so anybody can help? :( thanks a lot

help plzzzzzz

I don’t think international students can apply for FAFSA.

Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is a form that is filled out and that schools use to determine the kind and amount of aid they will give to their students. International students are not eligible to use the FAFSA for computing financial aid. You need to ask the schools to which you are applying what exactly you are to do. FAFSA is for United States citizens and permanent residents only.

ok
thanks
I will ask more!

UCI gives no financial aid to international students (unless there’s something for one specific country that I’m not aware of, or some weird exception like that). The only UC that aids internationals is Davis, and even then, it’s not a whole lot.

Are you sure you can afford to pay UCI?

yes
but as I see there is an option of FASFA so I would like to try :P

You can’t fill out the FAFSA if you’re an international student. The UCs won’t ask you for any financial information, they’ll just (maybe) give you some ridiculous tiny merit scholarship. I applied to Davis and I got a supposedly prestigious $4,400 (or something like that) scholarship every year.

Out of a cost of attendance of $44,000. Leaving me with $40,000 approx to pay.

I ended up choosing the University of Pennsylvania for close to free. They promise to meet 100% of your need if you’re American, Mexican, or Canadian.

I’m Mexican, btw.

If you are an international student (not a US citizen or eligible permanent resident) then there is no FAFSA option. FAFSA is only for US citizens and eligible permanent residents. Not for International students.
