FASFA help

Im not sure if this kind of thing is discussed in another thread, I looked around but didnt see it!

Theres a problem that is becoming harder and harder to ignore.

My mom and dad are seperated, but still live in the same home. My mom hasnt worked since before I was born, and is disabled, but not on social security.

My dad works construction, but because of various events way back when, hasnt filled out his taxes in a very long time.

I remember hearing about this problem when I was a teenager, but never gave it much thought until it really started hindering things.

We are a very low-income family, and the lack of tax forms has kept aid like food stamps or medical help from being accessable, but a more personal problem for me is it doesnt look like Im able to fill out the FASFA without it.

Im 21 now and have been struggling through community college for a few years out of pocket, but just cant afford it anymore. Is there any possible way to be able to fill out the FASFA without my father's info? My mom doesnt have anything to give in the way of tax or financial information, he makes all the money and I move my time between caring for her and trying to go to school.

I know there probably isnt, but any insight on all of this would really be appreciated.

I would have you and your dad contact a CPA and discuss the tax situation. It may be that your dad will not owe taxes, but if he does, and he is caught, he could go to jail. If he is low income, he is leaving money on the table. You really need a tax advisor.
