FASFA QUESTION #83

I read the attached PDF in regards to this question. I also looked at the government website and even the irs site, but iI still do not have the proper understanding of how to answer this question.
About me (parent)
Filed a 1040 -
Filed head of household
Have an LLC that made under 13,500
IRS website states that anything below 13,500 you do NOT have to file for head of household -
I file every year + I do get earned income credit

How do I properly answer this question? It states if your parents where NOT required to file a 1040 then the answer is
YES -
If your parent makes under 100K answer is YES
which applies to me.

But then in the “NO section” it states if
They got income from a business which applies to me as well,
but i do not want to give ANY sort of impression that I made over 100K which I surely did NOT and is filed accordingly…

Should the proper answer just be “DO NOT KNOW”

Thank you.

And thank you for the link provided, the explanation is on page 65, but I am still confused.

https://studentaid.ed.gov/sites/default/files/2015-16-completing-fafsa.pdf (PAGE 65)

If they got income from a business (i.e. were not employees of a company which provided them a W-2) then it is no. They cannot file a 1040A or EZ.

Thank you

But I thought OP asked what if she was not required to file a return at all because her income was not high enough for her filing status? What if she only filed to get a refund and/or claim earned income credit?

yes thats what it was mommdc but its done now -
