Fashion Design at public state college?

So I'm thinking about going to a state school for fashion design and photography, but I also want to go to an arts school. Any advice?

Art schools are very expensive. Would you, first off, be able to afford it?

What state are you in, or do you mean you’re looking at both IS and OOS state schools in general?

You should consider looking at public/private universities that have a great art department, like UCLA (would be very expensive unless you’re a CA resident), Columbia, or Syracuse. From my experience, art schools = expensive and do not give out much aid, but some private colleges are generous with it depending on your stats/portfolio.

Money is a little tight, so I’m not sure how much my parents would be able to afford.
I meant in-state schools. I live in Texas, so I’m applying to Texas Tech University, University of North Texas, and Texas Womens University, but I am also looking at Columbia College Chicago and RISD.

If you’re in NYC, go to FIT (Fashion Institute of Technology)! It’s a pretty cheap school and has a great Fashion Design reputation.

I unfortunately live in Texas, but I do know that even for OOS, the tuition is pretty cheap. How is the school overall? What was did you major in?
