Fashion Institute of Technology and CUNY chances (unique situation)

Hi everyone, here's my situation:

I'm not fooling myself into thinking my grades are ok. I had a few situations in high school and college that led to my poor performance. In high school my mother was deployed to Iraq and I had to help run the household and care for my sister in early grade school while my father was at work. I had to cook, clean, help her with her homework, and pay bills when my step-father would forget. On top of all of that I had a tough time at home because I was dealing with my sexuality and my step-father did not approve. After graduating I went to start college, but I had to stop attending classes at the end of the quarter because the school would not allow me to use my biological father's information for the FAFSA and my parents refused to fill it out, much less assist in paying for school. Since I had to drop out right before the biggest assignments of the quarter were due for my psychology class I failed. As a way to get money for school and the ability to file as an independent I joined the military. Well my information is posted below. I'm super nervous and confused as to what will happen. Oh, if anyone is willing to read my essay I would love to get some feedback on it as well, even though it's already submitted.

Please understand that most of the people posting here are high school students, not admissions officers. While some may have some general insight, no one knows, especially when there are nontraditional students involved. No one. Make sure you meet requirements, like the gpa mentioned above and take your chances like everyone else.

thank you. I was hoping there would be someone out there that might have an idea. i’ve seen a few posts by other nontraditional students and I was hoping to get some input as well. i understand that none of this is official, but it would be nice to hear what others think.
