I'm going to apply to the fashion marketing program at Parsons NY fall -08. I have searched everywhere to find out how difficult it is to get in, but the only admission statistics I found says that half of the applicants get accepted. This sound like too much! Does anyone here know if it's true? Plus, I'm an international student, so maybe that will change my odds?

will you need $$?

also consider applying to SUNY - FIT (literally right down the street)

Thanks for the tip!
I will probably take a loan, so the money shouldn't be a problem. Does that increase my chances?

leblons- i have applied to the parsons fashion marketing program for fall 08 for the fast track program. I was wondering if you have gotten a response from the school yet. And if you had found out any more information on how hard it is to get into the program. Like yourself I am having a hard time finding stuff on the program anything i find is on fashion design or fashion studies. I do think that they are trying to promote the fashion marketing program more so they might want to accept more students now. Not sure about that just an opinion. Let me know if you find anything out.

Hi Leblons - I too am an international student considering parsons marketing program. They say that many of their students are graduates. I'm wondering if students are older at Parsons?

My sister goes to Parsons for fashion merchandising, and she tells me that many of the students are accomplished with degrees and already in the workforce and are taking courses on the side. Thus, obviously, many are of an older age and furthermore there is definitely a large international population. And as for acceptance rate, I feel like I remember researching briefly on her behalf and that acceptance rates waver around the upper 40s.

hi, did you end up going to parsons? I graduated from college with a finance and marketing double degree but i am really interested in fashion marketing. if you did get in and attend parsons- how did you like it? was it worth it to go there? before i give everything up and move out to ny and go to parsons i want to make sure it will be worth it. Thanks!

Hi! I applied to the Fashion Marketing program at Parsons for Fall 2009…I’m still waiting on my admissions letter to come and it seems like its taking forever. Did anyone who applied for the same program get anything in the mail yet?

Hey! I just recieved my acceptance letter two weeks ago for the fashion marketing program. It probably just depends on where you live because I know that the acceptance letters come via mail, not through e-mail. Good luck!

yeah, i live in new orleans and applied right before the deadline so maybe thats why its taking so long. Thanks a lot!

I applied the day before the dead line and I got mine 2 weeks ago. However at the information session they told me it could take anywhere from 4 days to 2 months depending on the number of applicants! Also what kind of time commitment is expected from this program? Will I be able to work on the side? Also I have to get an apartment. Also how easy is it to make friends. I am nervous to move to NYC from Ohio!

I just received my acceptance letter today! I am so psyched. does anyone know what sort of housing is better? I’ve heard some people find great deals on craigslist…

you guys already started getting replies…great.
i got an email from them saying they will mail my decision on 29th march. so i am still to hear.
congrats to all who got in.:)

Yet another epic thread revival.
